The definition of pugatory is:

In Roman Catholicism Heaven is the eternal abode of God and the blissful destination of believers, Hell is an eternal place of suffering and damnation for non-believers, and Purgatory is a temporary place of suffering for believers to have the rest of their sins 'purged' from them before they enter Heaven.

So if purgatory is in between Heave n and Hell we all may be there.

Heaven is a beautiful winter day watching the snow build up in the trees. Then you get lost in the woods and freeze to death, Hell

Heaven is having a beautiful baby girl born to you and your wife. Then you find her dead in her crib one morning, Hell

Heaven is sitting on a surfboard waiting for the next set. Then you get a letter in the mail and are on your way to Viet Nam, Hell

I could go on all day but you get the point.

I personally look at it a sort of reform school for wayward souls. ;)

Purgatory, as a place, happens after death, so we would all have to be dead for this to be true.

Heaven is a beautiful winter day watching the snow build up in the trees. Then you get lost in the woods and freeze to death, Hell
Heaven is the realm of God and his angels, it is not for man. We were never meant for Heaven. "Hell" is either one of two things: The state of being after rejection of God, or permanent cessation of existence.

Hell, as a place, is an ancient Norse construct. Even it's name is stolen from the old Norse Helheim (literally "House of Hel") located in the realm of Nifelheim where those who are not slain in battle find themselves. After Ragnarok, it becomes a place of eternal punishment for the treacherous, breakers of oaths, and philanderers.

Short answer: No.

No. The people in purgatory are dead, they know their final destiny, and they don't sin.
