If you do not attend church, this poll isn't for you. For those of you who have a "home" church, what denomination is it?

Baptist, though I'm relatively open-minded for one. ;)

I'm kinda pissed that Episcopal/Anglican isn't on the list.

Alas, I am not nearly as active or faithful as I ought to be, but to the extent that I ever go to church, it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (popularly known as the “Mormon” church) that I attend.

Sorry. I have asked that a mod change the last one to include "other".
Cool. I'm not actually pissed though - it was kind of tongue in cheek. I'm also not technically Christian, but I still attend Episcopal Church sometimes and follow its traditions.

Really? Sorry to hear that church means in a brick and mortar to you.
My church is in my closet. Or my bedroom. Mostly it's in the back yard and the choir are birds singing. Sometimes it's in video I see on youtube and sometimes it's in the clouds that make designs. Once in a blue moon, it's the rain that hits my roof and sings to me.

But....that doesn't count, right?

Sorry for intruding.

When I go to church (I'm an atheist), I go to Covenant Christian Church. I like it there because you can be open about your beliefs and you won't be judged.

Whoa, whoa...

I never said that it had to be a brick and mortar building with a special sign on the outside. Jesus said that wherever 2 or more gather in his name, there He will be. Your answer would be under "other" which will be there whenever a mod changes it for me. :)

Fixed the poll for you like you wanted, but can't answer the question.

Baptist for me.

Well, polls only go up to ten, so it would be hard to be anything like all-inclusive.

And in all fairness, Christianity is the majority religion by something like 30x in America, where most of our posters hail from.

I would have gone with something like...

Catholic

Anglican/Episcopal/Presbyterian

Methodist/Lutheran/Wesleyan

Baptist/similar Evangelical

Pentecostal/Ch'o'God/etc.

Seventh Day Adventist

Greek/Eastern

Unitarian Universalist/similar

Nondenominational/Community

Other

.... just for the Christian denominations, and that cuts down on detail but still leaves some out. Just in my area, there's also substantial minorities of Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Black Muslim and Pagan, though I doubt all of them together total 8%.

That is a pretty sensible way of organising it Goshin. Though I'm not sure why you'd put Presbyterianism/Calvinism with us Anglicans.

Well, it IS kind of a poor fit, true... I teetered on the verge of putting Presbyterian with Baptist. Not a great fit either, but...

I ended up going with "denominations born on the British Isles together"

Sorry. I tried to hit the biggest ones.

That does make some sense under the circumstances. The Anglican Church has had much Presbyterian influence, though there are sections of it, like my own, which are profoundly against Calvinist.

I would say it was a denomination born in Geneva, if I was in one of my more Laud-ian moods.

Yes, it is hard to figure out where to put the Presbyterians. :)

Most Baptists, who are rarely more than quasi-Calvinist at the utmost, take exception to being lumped in with them.

I'm not sure they go well with Methodist/Lutheran/Wesleyan either, historically or theologically.

Catholic, obviously.
