The current bill in the legislature, H.R.354 — 115th Congress (2017-2018) states, "Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2017

This bill prohibits, for a one-year period, the availability of federal funds for any purpose to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., or any of its affiliates or clinics, unless they certify that the affiliates and clinics will not perform, and will not provide any funds to any other entity that performs, an abortion during such period. This restriction does not apply in cases of rape or incest or where a physical condition endangers a woman's life unless an abortion is performed.

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture must seek repayment of federal assistance received by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., or any affiliate or clinic, if it violates the terms of the certification required by this bill.

Additional funding for community health centers is provided for the one-year period described above."

What are your thoughts?? Are you for funding or for defunding??

Very much against, since one of the items that Planned parenthood does is , well, provide birth control, which reduces abortion.

I think that PPA should separate completely it's health services and it's abortion services. Two totally separate entities. That would allow funding of the things that PPA does that are a benefit to continue to be funded by the Feds. while those actions which are destructive can be de-funded. Abortions should be a medical procedure, carried out in a medical office by a trained surgeon with certification in ob/gyn.

Maybe they're waiting for an investigation into alleged organ sells.

But it's illegal to supply Public funds for abortion and possibly contraception unless one ignores the Constitution.

The only reason that it's illegal to use federal public funds for abortion is the Hyde amendment.. and that has nothing what so ever to do with the Constitution.

I would have to rate your statement 'Pants on Fire'

I support federal funds for abortion. I am a conservative and I would rather pay to abort unwanted babies then pay for their welfare and healthcare until they are 18. Not sure why many conservatives are against abortions. You better be ready to pay for welfare if you are against abortion. I also think we should require mandatory abortions for undocumented immigrants. Don't want any future anchor babies right?. Plus unwanted babies just end up being criminals. So it's better to pay for aborting babies that will likely be future murders.

Just change the law and make it legal. There is nothing in the constitution that disallows contraception and abortion.

I don't quite understand why this is even debated - the federal funds to PP are really minuscule.
Take out that little bit of federal funding and let it run on its major funding: private donations, paying customers, bake sales, etc.

With regard to "free" contraceptives: before Obamacare hit its last stage (individual mandate), the federal government poured masses of monies into expanding "free" clinics.
Payment is on a sliding scale, in most cases zero, depending on income or lack of thereof - no charge for contraceptives.

So, I'd say: defund PP.

You will find that abortion is also not mentioned in yhe Constitution.

I hate the idea that because the American Taliban can't wrap their warped little minds around the fact that abirtions ARE healthcare for women, we all must endure the legislation that whackadoodles enjoy.

Our country is a laughingstock for all but the most backward of nations.
