MUSLIM ELLISON SHOULD NOT SIT IN CONGRESS

Last month Keith (Hakim Mohammad) Ellison of Minnesota became the first Muslim elected to serve in the United States Congress and shocked many Americans by declaring that he would take his oath of office by placing his hand on the Quran rather than the Bible. Can a true believer in the Islamic doctrine found in the Quran swear allegiance to our Constitution? Those who profess a sincere belief in Allah say “no!”
(. . .)
Our Constitution states, “Each House [of Congress] shall be the judge … of the qualifications of its own members.” Enough evidence exists for Congress to question Ellison’s qualifications to be a member of Congress as well as his commitment to the Constitution in view of his apparent determination to embrace the Quran and an Islamic philosophy directly contrary to the principles of the Constitution. But common sense alone dictates that in the midst of a war with Islamic terrorists we should not place someone in a position of great power who shares their doctrine. In 1943, we would never have allowed a member of Congress to take their oath on “Mein Kampf,” or someone in the 1950s to swear allegiance to the “Communist Manifesto.” Congress has the authority and should act to prohibit Ellison from taking the congressional oath today!

11 years later and it seems Representative Ellison has done his job as a representative of the people in his district - they have re-elected him four times.

Roy Moore, now as a Senate candidate, is trying to deny he ever thought Keith Ellison was ineligible for Congress. Moore, who said Muslim shouldn't serve, now opposes 'religious test'. If you think Muslims should be prohibited from holding office, as Moore plainly stated, that is, quite obviously, a religious test that is forbidden by the Constitution.

When the President nominates for the federal bench, people who have said/written that the Bible precedes US law and the Constitution or argued that sanctioning same-sex marriage would lead to polygamy and bestiality one might begin to wonder about who he is relying upon for suggestions.

The Bible over Constitution lady was confirmed to the 7th Circuit bench by a 55-43 vote and he is under consideration.

Moore is brain dead sewage with no redeeming qualities; he is a bigot tho' ....................

He is right. Islam is incompatible with our form of government.

From Article VI:

3: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

If elected, how can Moore be bound by oath to support the Constitution if he loathes it so?

He is right. Islam is incompatible with our form of government.

So please show how this representative has not done their job. Go ahead, show with examples instead of your religious bigotry.

Here, I thought we had a Muslim president for the past 8 years. Was that wrong?

If you get right down to fundamentalist interpretations of religious texts, none of the Abrahamic religions are compatible. They all have their own laws which believers are to follow first and foremost.

For a bit of context

Almost 75% of Ellison's district - the 5th - are of European descent, with those of German origin being the largest percentage. Though 16% of his district is considered poor, the median household income is above the national average. Approximately 1 in 7 residents in the district were born outside of the US. 53% of those eligible voted in the last election, almost 10 points higher than the national average. High school graduation rate is 89.5% compared to the national average of 83.2%

If he promises to uphold the Constitution, then he should be OK. Just don't go all Islam on us.

He hasn't upheld it, though, defying federal law and publicly stating he places the bible above the Constitution.

The man is living, breathinng sack of human feces.

Just don't go all Judaism on us.

We are a Judaeo - Christian nation. That's why we aren't a Muslim rat hole, and women have rights. We can reduce the chances of religious wars in our borders by sticking to our base religions.

What a disgraceful little talibornagain. Great job repubs...

You ever actually read the OT? Women aren't exactly treated as equals. And neither were they treated as equals when we actually founded this nation on those Judeo-Christian values. The rights of women don't get oppressed by a book. They oppressed by human beings.

Muslim rat hole. Wow. You literally think they're subhuman. I feel sad for you.

He is right. Islam is incompatible with our form of government.

Actually, all religions are incompatible with your form of government, hence the separation of church and state. So, your position is that only Atheists should form your government?

We don't allow religion to run our lives, that's why we aren't a rat hole and women have rights.

Back in the good old days, when religion was more prominent, women did not have the right to vote or to own property.

You do realize Muslims are not all robots who think the same thing and many Muslims can separate their religion from their job, right?

True, but only because you don’t have a religious government like, say Iran who has complete legal power over you.

Our laws were based on England’s, not Iran’s.

Yes, and we also have that tradition of separation of church and state. It's one of the better ideas we've had over the years.

Except the founding fathers explicitly rejected your claim.

America is a secular nation - it's right there in the first amendment. It's a secular nation formed by largely (though far from exclusively) Christian people.

As for religious wars, one of the reasons Europeans went to the new world was to flee the wars and divisions between different branches of Christianity in Europe and it's only because we moved to far more secular view points, accepting people of all faiths (and none) equally and fairly, that we were able to end (most of) those conflicts.

Some people seem to want to restart them, albeit on slightly different lines. Thankfully, most of us want to stop you.

true no one should be able to make it or any other religion part of are laws

but Muslims are fine like any one else

so this theocratic ****er is wrong and hypocritical
