Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"[W:132]

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

You must have missed the fact that many slaves were indentured servants, who sold themselves into slavery as a way to live.

Not true. Not true at all.

& Not in the U.S.

Not long after the constitution was written, there was a strong, steady decline in Indentured Servitude, (there were some, yes, but their numbers were minuscule) of which most were not black, and they were not slaves.

Most indentured servants (primarily in the colonies) served voluntarily- and for relatively short terms.

It was not AT ALL like chattel slavery.

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

You are all missing the point when it's claimed that Jesus supported slavery.

As I wrote previously, Jesus declared, "You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself." So, what part of "love your neighbor as yourself" do you think in any way condones enslaving your neighbor? Has anyone answered that question yet??

Jesus didn't have an army to overthrow Rome and the ruling establishment.

His teachings were designed to stop slavery and wrongdoing by first changing the hearts of men. And that he did to all who would listen and come to him.

So, the argument that Jesus approved of slavery is mindless claptrap.

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

Ramoss, don't bother me with your nonsense.

In other words, you can not back up your claims with facts. THis is par for the course.

I have never known Logicman to back up a claim.

Wrong again, Ramoss. What it means is that myself and other Christians I've seen in the past are tired of feeding you information that you just kick under your rug. So don't bother me further with your nonsense.

Again, you claim 'wrong', but are unable to back up that what you say is true. Of course, that is par for the course.

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

It is the lack of evidence which allows for postulating that the Jesus of the Bible is a myth.

There's no lack of evidence. There's just denial of evidence on the part of the Christ skeptics.

Does it matter?

In your dreams, rather - in your beliefs. Traditional methods of historical analysis raise many questions that the theologically-oriented can only answer by prevarication, diversion and "The Bible tells us!!!"

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

Yes it does matter. America today, the richest most developed nation in history, has more of its citizens belonging to churches which wish to control society than any other nation seen as First World. The GOP-controlled House of Representatives has just passed a bill erasing the Johnson Amendment, the law that stops churches from engaging in politics.

When a supposedly educated people prefer mythology over history, myth before science, the future darkens.

And so that’s why the Bible saif it was OK for their masters to rape them with impunity, beat them until they were incapacitated for a few day, and hold them for life if they were not Israelites. Got it. Thanks.

What would we do without such moral guidance?

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

Exodus 20:3-6
“You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments."

Why should we take any notice of a work of fiction?

Flush.

And what do you indict Jesus on? Can't wait.

FLUSH?!!? Man, don't you know what that guy Jesus supposedly said? At least he is quoted in one of those books you claim to be inerrant, without error or mistakes - never mind the little contradictions to be found here and there

Matthew 5:17-20(KJV)
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Leviticus has some 'fun' commandments, 611 in total. Do you keep all of them, even the least of them?

Re: Muhammad slave owner "Tear down the Mosques"

There's no lack of evidence. There's just denial of evidence on the part of the Christ skeptics.

So, other than the claims from the bible, and forgeries from Josephus, and hersey evidence coming from writers 70 years or more after the alleged events, what physical evidence do you have?

Jesus fulfilled the law. https://www.cbcg.org/franklin/SA/SA_fullfilllaw.pdf

However, the Moral Laws still remain.

We are now under the NEW Covenant.

So nice try.

I notice that, despite your claims that it is 'nonsense', you are unable to support your claim

I've told you a number of times not to keep bothering me with your nonsense.
