The controversial lawyer has made headlines for a series of incendiary remarks over the years, but beat his Washington-backed opponent with ease.

This is frightening stuff here.

Moore has suggested that the 11 September 2001 attacks against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were a sign of God's divine anger.

And he was once a judge.

It's Alabama.

Not the most insane thing I have seen our nation do, but definitely popcorn and soda worthy entertainment,

Similar to the choice in Nov16. worse and worser, welcome to US politics.

Apparently even Trump didn't want this guy to win.

A friend of mine used to live in Alabama. From what she's told me it sounds like a place to avoid like the plague.

Well, that certainly makes you an expert.

She is. I did not claim to be an expert. Do try to improve your reading comprehension.

Weren't you the one who complained to me about Americans commenting on Europe's problems? So practice what you preach for once.

I was reporting what a friend told me. She is an American.

What makes you say that?

So? I know people who live in Alabama and people who live in Europe. The Alabamans I know see it differently.

Ever hear the song "Sweet Home Alabama"?

Great song if you were white.

Living there. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

You mean hard like for a Gypsy in Toulouse or more like an unemployed Spaniard after three years without a job? Or more like a Greek with cancer that can't get painkillers? Or is it more like living in London on $ 25.ooo pa? Miserable all, but of different shades.

It was the religious lunacy of the Bible Belt that she had problems with.

Interesting.

This was in the 1970's. One of the things she told me was that in the small town where she lived with her partner and their son the locals found out that they were not married and when the people in the street walked past their house they would lift a hand to their face so as not to see the sin going on in the house.
