Proposing a change in calanders is not unique or an impossible idea. Western civilisation has gone frome hellenic to roman to julian to gregorian.
We have had the calander we now use in effect to measure over two thousand years now. Given a starting point to a religion that no longer controls the thinking of modern man. That of the birth of christ and is called anno domini meaning in the year of our lord.

However this is archaic and based on a superstition and i argue that it is about time it was replaced with somethin contemporary and more fitting to what now has a greater influence. And what could be more fitting that america itself.

So i propose that instead of this being the year 2018 anno domini instead the calander once again should be changed and this should instead be the year 241 anno americae.

Is this something people really worry about?

Nobody is going to go for that.

Nobody is going to go for that.

You don't know, maybe this'll gain some traction like the Confederate statue thing and folks'll go around tearing down calendars.

Skip ahead 1 minute to the pertinent part.

First off, nobody cares because dates are arbitrary. Secondly, we already switched to the CE/BCE system a long time ago. Nobody gives a crap, there's a lot more to worry about in the world than what dare you put on things and it would be a complete pain in the patootie to switch.

Do you really neeed to reach the stage of something becoming a worry before doing anything. Here is a suggestion, if you're thinking of having children, plan ahead, things might work out better than if you wait till you have to worry about it.

But it is broke. The religion is an insignificant superstition. Why keep it?

Because the year numbering system works fine. The days of the week are named after Greek and Roman gods and even Christians seem fine with that.

If dates are arbitrary then no real problem to change them is it? You are correct but it still nothing more than a sop. A weak concession that while claiming science still sounds the same and is still based on an imaginary friend.

Not changing the system. Merely what it is based upon.

I understand americans reluctance for change. Considering you are still using ounces and pounds when metric is so much better. It really is a bit of a stretch to ask you to consider changing time when you have yet to get weights under your belt.

It would seem so.....some people have been attempting to rewrite history since the written word in attempt to make themselves feel better, or to suppress a history that hurts their PC feelings.

Yeah, but the way we measure distance and weights actually is broke and needs to be fixed. :)

Ah yes......I knew it wouldn't be long; the condescending "Your system is inferior" argument....along with the subtly patronizing "You poor feeble minded Americans" inference.

Well, it works for us.....we do manage to drag ourselves along through life as best we can, trying to keep up with the rest of the world. So long as you stay where you are, and out of the Unites States, I don't see it causing you any earth shaking issues.

Science is important but it always changes unlike religions. Many teachings in religions are stll needed because people still act like they live in the stone age ,they cant evolve to humans

How exactly is it broke? while the metric system is much simpler and uniform its doesnt conform to the real world as well as the imperial system since all the units are based on physical things

Now this is something worthy of your time.

We actually use both. Tell you what, why don't you just do what you want and leave us out of it?

What would be the point? What's wrong with using what we have now? Simply being old is not a qualification for getting rid of or changing something. You only get rid of or change something when it no longer is working. What isn't working with the current calendar system?

Oh wait, you said in your thread title "It is time theists, give it up.". So this has nothing to do with whether something is actually wrong with the current calendar system. It has to do with it being based off of something that theists came up with and nothing else. Hope that you never speak out against bigotry because trying to get rid of something or change something simply due to it being tied to religion is bigoted also. Hope that you are also not into displaying hypocrisy.

actually I think they already have its no longer "pc" to call dates BC and AD, I think they go by BCE and CE now

Yes, I have seen more and more using BCE and CE....and the new PC abbreviations still mark time based of what historical event? Yeah, that Christian thing that happened.

*shrug*......people can get wrapped around the axel for the silliest things. How many calendar systems currently in use? About a dozen....

Considering the US is an ailing empire, I think it should reflect the founding of the next great world power, making it the year 68 AMGFPRC, or After Mao's Glorious Founding of the People's Republic of China.
