Atheists, why do you hate Christians?

For you perhaps, but many christians do see it that way. They see America as a christian nation that should follow christian laws and pick politicians that would force that christian law on everyone else. I have no beef with the christians that recognize they're one of many and mind their own business.

Thank you, RabidAlpaca.

Fast Pace and Elvira have over thrown anti-deistic commentary in the last two pages so easily that their arguments are bigly.

Not all Christians see America as a Christian nation, though most evangelical and fundamentalists do see it that way. They form the core of a right wing Progressive movement to have Big Government change our politics, cultural, and society to their satisfaction.

Many Christians like me envision America as a country primarily of Christians that operative in a plural religious society.

Then you're one of the christians I have no issue with. It's the other nutters who don't realize they live in a plural religious society that worry me.

Atheists overestimate human capabilities vastly. It seems sheer hubris to think that man or even more absurdly an individual could determine how reality got started or didn't. To believe one could even imagine how a Creator might be is somehow ridiculous and absurd (unless it was communicated to humanity ;) ).

They hate being reminded of this by the existence of the religious.

Why imagine a creator?

Yea, it is a bit rhetorical on my part. I've simply noticed that, in numerous posts in this forum, there are many that apparently despise Christians and their belief system.

Well, in any case, I look forward to many years of edifying conversations with you.....oh....never mind.

Wow...."most atheists" are members of DP???

That's fargin fantastic!!!

Well done DP. Well done.

:screwy

Unfortunately, we have lost BadK9 forever. How sad. His posts were so insightful and spot-on.

Genesis tells you why atheists hate Christians, they have a god, a master, and father. Satan. They are some of his offspring. And enmity would be put between the offspring of Satan and that of the offspring of The Woman. The atheist want Jesus brought down from the Cross. (Bible: Genesis: Enmity between the offspring of Satan and The Woman: Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.")

It seems that most atheists are liberals and liberals often claim to support inclusion, diversity, love and tolerance but, time and again, I see atheists who are seemingly seething with hatred for Christians. My question is - why?

I'm an atheist and I don't hate Christians. Most of my friends are Christians. I don't agree with them, but that's no reason to hate them.

Why imagine a creator?

Why? Why, I don't really think it an intelligent thing to think about, after initial curiosity.

There seem a large in fact very large hole in the above logic.

The writer stated that it is hubris to probe into the foundations of the universe as that is beyond human understanding but atheists hate religions due to the existence of religions pointing out and reminding them of this lack of ability to truly understand the universe and I guess then humans giving up and just making up stories that had turn into religions?

Sorry we had only started to probe into the universe from it start to it likely end in the last generation or so and so far there seem no barrier to understanding.

I would suggest reading the book 'A Universe from Nothing' by physicist Lawrence M. Krauss to get the current scientific thinking on the subject.

You must reread. Probing is not the problem. Believing one could know is the hubris.

Off topic

But how does a theory that is tested, and observed as part of the scientific process become weaker than multiple god/god theories of the world and how it was created and how life began?

From outside a believe aspect (as in I believe there for it is) A Hindu's belief system is just as valid as a Christian's belief system. With the "belief" that there chosen belief system is the correct one is all the provides any support to all higher power religious beliefs

I don't really think humans capable of such judgements.

Obviously, the irony of your own opening post is lost on you.
