Because this had an element of politics to it, I felt I had to post it in this forum but rather would have liked to have posted it in the Religion forum.

But here goes....

Several of Trump's cabinet meet weekly for bible study. It's an amazing report that believers will find amazement and comfort.

Bible Studies at the White House: Who's Inside This Spiritual Awakening? | CBN News

But it even gets better for the believer as the chaplain of the Senate holds bible study too and he told of Democrats and Republicans showing up in the early morning hours to study the Word together and pray together. He also told of one senator who has led 13 African heads of state to Christ.
Imagine greater.....
It is a lovely interview that believers will appreciate.

Re: Bible Studies at White House.

I'm atheist (always have been, and always rejected anything supernatural) and very much enjoy Bible study. Lot of good lessons to learn, a lot of morals, ethics, values and traditions to explore.

I very much doubt a Senator converted 13 African heads of state. I'm sure we'll find they were Christian before meeting him. Got a list?

He may have converted them to a certain domination or maybe caused them to get baptized or join/rejoin a church, I however strongly doubt a senator converted 13 people with no previous Christianity persuasion to the fold

13 random people would be highly unlikely, let alone heads of state. Also, it kinda sounds a bit Heart of Darkness; a little too much "into the wilderness bringing light to the savages". It really sounds like that if it's not reasonably true.

"For I have gone into the Heart of Darkness and brought forth the Light!"

Doesn't sit well.

Maybe it's not like that. But the truth of it would help determine if it's distasteful.

So you are calling Pastor Black a liar.
Black is the 62nd chaplain of the Senate and the former chief of chaplains for the U.S. Navy, yet he states in the interview some senators dwarf him in spirituality.
I know from your comments you did not bother to watch the interview.
Too bad.

I don't believe it. There are many reasons why the Chaplin could have it wrong, not necessarily lying.

It's not on me to prove it, I didn't make the claim. Someone can provide a list of names if they want to prove the claim.

Why does he have to be a liar to be wrong? Are we presuming he's perfect? He could have gotten wrong info, he could have misspoke, there are many possibilities.

I don't believe it. This is a debate website. The burden of proof is on the maker of the claim.

You are wrong, Pastor Black who holds bible study and prayer time with both sides of the aisle of the Senate that wish to attend weekly, has made the claim. He refused to give a name of the senator responsible of bringing 13 heads of state from Africa to Christ. A non believer would not understand that. A believer does.

Before you respond to me again, watch the video.

Believers don't question each other? Well, that seems flawed to me. Do believers never get incorrect info, make mistakes or indulge in exaggeration? I had no idea y'all were perfect.

That's not gonna happen. You hold the claim to be true, prove it.

I don't have to prove nothin to an atheist. Because no matter what I put in front of you, you are going to have a problem with it.

I so much wanted to start this thread in the Religious Forum because the rules are different there.

But I am still glad I was able to post the links as I know believers will find much comfort in knowing their Senators and several of Trump's cabinet members are among the faithful seeking G-d's counsel.

I bet electricity was considered "supernatural" to people not familiar with electricity! I know when I was 6 YO and put that 3 volt motor in that household socket, I got a quick lesson, did not understand it, but I knew something was afoot!

I'm very respectful of religion. Your excluding my opinion based on my lack of religious belief is bigoted. You have no reason.

I probably respect religion more than any other atheist on this website. I believe metaphysical expression is part of human nature and suppressing it is low class and authoritarian.

Do all believers automatically believe anything a Chaplin says, even when his claims are not theological? That seems absurd to me.

That you do, I give you credit on your tolorence. Not saying I believe the chaplain, or don't. Really just trying to say don't summarily discount the supernatural.

Not a single one of us is aware of what the extent of reality, contains. Have a little wonder Eco! It is shroom season, after all! lol (not for me anymore)

My responses would be the same and there would be no infraction. I haven't made any attack on religion. I've questioned the claim of a Chaplin. That's not against the rules in any forum.

You should be happy an atheist supports Bible study in Congress.

Feel free to stop whining and put it wherever you want.

My point was one needn't be a Christian to approve of Bible study in Congress. One needn't believe in the supernatural to be religious anyway.

Saying I don't believe in the supernatural is not an attack on anyone. It's not "sky wizard" or such crap. I have every right to that position, even in the religious subforum, as long as I'm not attacking the beliefs of others. And I wasn't, I was stating my belief in support of Bible study.

Easy man, not saying you are "attacking" anything. Just weighing in with my opinion.

Well, we can discuss a belief in the supernatural, even in the religious subforum, but this thread doesn't seem the place. A non-supernatural interpretation of the Bible is a legitimate theological position, it's not an attack and thereby doesn't break rules in any subforum.

Believers don't question ANYTHING that aligns with their specially crafted world view. The Trump administration bringing Jesus to the godless savages in Africa makes them feel like they made the right decision last November so they're gonna go with it.

I bet electricity was considered "supernatural" to people not familiar with electricity! I know when I was 6 YO and put that 3 volt motor in that household socket, I got a quick lesson, did not understand it, but I knew something was afoot!

Are you comparing electricity to the claim that the Trump administration converted 12 African heads of state to Christianity?

Obama would be proud!

Someone needs to step right up here.

May as well be me: yes, I am calling this bible-thumping huckster crackpot a liar.

And for good measure anyone who believes him is a chump.

Re: Bible Studies at White House.

Should be banned. Has no business in the White House or any government agency. It basically means that the people who attend this meeting (and the list is frightening) take the Bible over the US constitution and the basic laws of the US.. and that is wrong.

The USSC says otherwise.
