The Myth of Yeshua Ben Jacob [W:314]

Jewish historian Flavius Josephus wrote:

"At that time lived Jesus, a wise man, if he may be called a man; for he performed many wonderful works. He was a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. . . .And when Pilate, at the instigation of the chief men among us, had condemned him to the cross, they who before had conceived an affection for him did not cease to adhere to him. For on the third day he appeared to them alive again, the divine prophets having foretold these and many other wonderful things concerning him. And the sect of the Christians, so called from him, subsists at this time" (Antiquities, Book 18, Chapter 3, Section 1).

And a Roman historian wrote:

". . .Nero procured others to be accused, and inflicted exquisite punishment upon those people, who were in abhorrence for their crimes, and were commonly known by the name of Christians. They had their denomination from Christus (Christ, dm.), who in the reign of Tibertius was put to death as a criminal by the procurator Pontius Pilate. . . .At first they were only apprehended who confessed themselves of that sect; afterwards a vast multitude discovered by them, all of which were condemned, not so much for the crime of burning the city, as for their enmity to mankind. . . ." (Tacitus, Annals, 15, 44).

In fact these are forgeries entered by later xian apologists. Even the Vatican has now admitted this.

The greatest mass murderer in history is religion. Still awaiting your proof yeshua actually existed.

Nope, the greatest mass murderers in history are Mao and Stalin, neither of whom were religious.

It's on you to prove your sad fringe beliefs, not anybody else.

Could you show me a link to verify please?

No, it's more accurate and appropriate to say that the historicity of Jesus is questionable. There's no way to demonstrate Jesus' historicity.

However that doesn't mean that he was absolutely a non-existent person. There's many historical individuals that we accept without question, who like Jesus, are questionable.
Couldn't you demonstrate the historicity of Jesus using the same methods you use to demonstrate the historicity of any other major figure of the age? And should we be accepting historical individuals without question if their historicity is questionable?

As people get better educated they stop believing in your myth. The best proof jesus never existed comes from you and your ilk with your profound inability to offer any proof outside of the bible to support your mythology. It doesn't make you wonder why not one record keeper of those several hundred ever mentioned the fantastic antics your mythical man is credited with?

"Faith" doesn't require proof so for that reason you will never convince those who believe in him that he never existed.

That's why those with blind faith are irrational and mentally unstable when it comes to their religious beliefs.

We have historical records of Pilate. Not one mention of the chap he is supposed to have had done in.

Having reality or truth in your user name, means you are always spot on and infallible!

Although, no historical evidence exists to prove it!:lamo

You'd think that something like this would have caused comment...

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
Matthew 27:51-53

Letters would have been written. There would have been accounts in contemporary histories. Certainly the imperial authorities from Pilate on down would have documented this and flooded Rome with reports. And this was on top of the already substantial celebrity, notoriety, and official disapproval that, according to the Bible, Jesus already enjoyed or suffered in the province. Yet... not a word.

Like the Flood! Apparently this world encompassing disaster went unnoticed by the Chinese Neolithic Dynasty, the Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Sumerians or Peruvians who not only neglected to make a note of it in their various writings but had the temerity to live through it.:lamo

As people get arrogant they assume they know everything about the universe. They become prone to making assumptions about the past regardless of what scholarship tells them. The scientific term for those people is "morons".

Frankly, I don't really give a damn about your opinion. In the end, that's all it is--- your opinion. There is literally nothing obligating anybody to share that opinion, much as you hate that.

Why would the Romans sing the praises of a man they had killed? They were a pragmatic group. Helping create a matyr would make zero sense from their perspective.

Yep, your blind faith that your opinion is correct is a sure sign of mental instability. But judging from your previous posts you wouldn't be happy if you didn't have something to play into your superiority complex.

Moron is a medical word applicable to people who who have very low IQ's. These people tend to believe all manner of odd things. If you really didn't care about my opinion, you'd not be continually trying to make excuses for your mythological beliefs.

People who believe in imaginary beings and events which never happened display classic signs of mental illness.

Yeah, that's why such stories are found among the traditions of many primitive races the world over...because there was no such thing...

In the book " Life and Work at the Great Pyramid", the festival in Mexico was held on the 17th of November because they “had a tradition that at that time the world had been previously destroyed; and they dreaded lest a similar catastrophe would, at the end of a cycle, annihilate the human race.” By Professor C. Piazzi Smyth, Edinburgh, 1867, Vol. II, pp. 390, 391

In the book The Worship of the Dead...“This festival [of the dead] is held by all on or about the very day on which, according to the Mosaic account, the Deluge took place, viz., the seventeenth day of the second month—the month nearly corresponding with our November.” By J. Garnier, London, 1904, p. 4

The Bible reports that the Flood began “in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month. Genesis 7:11. That “second month” corresponds to the latter part of October and the first part of November on our calendar.
