Is it just me or has anyone noticed that some "Atheist" tend to denigrate Christianity but defend Islam? I think it has nothing to do with GOD vs ALLAH, but rather a purely political motivation.
A true atheist would not defend either religion, ergo, anti Christian.

Thoughts?

I don't know what you're talking about.

IMO, Islam today is worse then modern Christianity, for the most part. But, I'm also sure that if given a free reign, Christianity would be just as oppressive and violent as Islam. So, the only fair judgement would be to say both religions are bad.

There are a lot of different types of Atheists. The problem with trying to bind them together is that the only fully shared trait is a lack of belief in a higher power. I think Atheists that insult Christianity, but not Islam, tend to have more experience with Christianity so they feel more comfortable criticizing it. Many of them, like myself, were raised Christian so it is a bit easier to talk about.

To a point, but most religious radicals these days, that commit terror, tend to be Muslim

Give people a passionate cause, some will kill over it. Religious or otherwise.

That makes good sense.

There is no question that modern Islam is still archaic in its treatment of women, homosexuals and apostasy. At least Christians do not kill you for flipping religions, leaving the house without covering your head or (in most places) for having same sex relationships.

dont care for either but you should be able to be either in peace so long as your not using your faith to **** with others

Only SJWs defend Islam and they do so out of political correctness, not atheism.

I'm an atheist. I don't defend any religion. It's all equally nonsense to me. I point out barbaric stuff in both the Bible and the Quran. However, I do go after Christianity more often, because of the things I have endured in my personal life (homophobia, etc.), and because of the fact that Christianity is the dominant religion in the society that I live in. If I was raised in a Muslim household, I'd probably go after Islam more often.

But that doesn't make me any "truer" of an atheist than anyone else who chooses to identify as such. There's no such thing as a "true" atheist in the first place. Atheists aren't in any way unified. The only thing that we all share is just that we don't believe in a God(s).

I have been banned from 3 Christian forums and 2 Islamic ones.

The Islamists seem to be less mad than the christians, less in denial of reality, more open to thinking. But they will never disagree with each other infront of an outsider. Or admit that there is any weakness within Islam.

I see myself as anti-both. Anti-all religion. And an ATHEIST. Other atheists behave differently.

I think sometimes people have a fairly high persecution complex and want to play the victim.

Makes perfect sense to me. Christianity has represented a more personal threat to you than Islam does, so you have reacted in a very rational way.

My thoughts exactly, I have never seen a republican do this.

They want to import them, so they defend the religion in order to make its adherants appear less of a threat.

On a sidenote, I suspect the majority of atheist tend to be democrats.

I suspect it is the 'open atheists'. I know a number of people who are 'in the closet' that are atheists that are from the south, and in highly conservative areas. I suspect that the ones 'in the closet' are Republican or conservatives because of their social situation.

That does seem very likely. Gonna see if I google some stats for religion by party. Be right back.

I am an atheist and I speak out against Christianity more than Islam for one simple reason: I live in a predominantly Christian nation run by predominately Christian politicians. Now, when I lived in Indonesia and Libya I rarely gave Christianity a thought and the activism I supported was much more anti-Islam in nature.

When I lived in the Buddhist country of Cambodia, well, nobody gave a damn what religion people were so I left them alone. :)
