Why do religons need to indoctrinate children?

What kind of an answer is that? He does know what he is talking about and you seem incapable of addressing the points made to you.

A truthful one, that's what kind of answer it is. If you guys are going to troll the least you can do is ask the right questions.

Hilarious. We are replying to your vague ramblings with pertinent questions. You have no answers.

How would you define a real Christian? Arguments between Christians about who is a real Christian have been responsible for may deaths over the centuries.

Like I said, to him, Christians are those who believe exactly like he does, unless it's convenient for them the be considered Christians for something, at which point they are Christians until it is no longer convenient.

All religions need to indoctrinate for a very good reason. They are in the business of telling people what to believe. They must indoctrinate in order to get blind followers who will not question the beliefs that are prescribed to them. They don't want natural human curiosity to arise and face the questions of potential believers. They must act assured that they have all the answers and treat their belief as the one true way to whatever they are shooting for. Otherwise, the normal human impulse to think for yourself and question things might arise and allow one to see through the illogic of all religious beliefs. The use of a higher power in some religions creates an authoritative figure who is watching over you to make sure you faith does not falter.

You said it, I didn't. They certainly aren't famous for their manners.

We don't have to be, we're just calling out stupidity where it exists. Maybe theists should stop being so stupid.

I don't think you can stop being stupid if you sincerely believe it benefits you. The problem is that their ignorance is constantly reinforced by their community, mostly because they aren't brave enough to declare it morally irrelevant.

The moderates appreciate the ambition of radicals and enable them with lip service payed to a "truth" that they, themselves could never adhere to because in practice it's barbaric.

The next step is to declare the radicals to be poor examples of the faith when they actually do what the book says.
