. Certainly not societal pressure to behave in specific ways is stronger then the potential of eternal life in the way people act day to day. Littering will be common where accepted and where society pressures people not to people won't as a means to remain accepted in the society. Going to church is in smaller towns an expected activity with social disapproval of people miss it. Given the small size friends and family will notice and disapprove. In cities few will notice and attendance is lower

society would not know what pressure to apply without religious teachings. Ever look at history? Before Christ there was only murder, not civilization as we know it today. Constantine made canon law civil law. I"m teaching you history in 10 seconds out of religious obligation.

the Old Testament required the stoning of adulter's yet most people were against it. Religion adapted to accommodate people's general goodness towards not killing.

Hammurabi code written before Judaism and long before Christ. It covered a mass number of laws I expect also including one regarding murder

But this is a ludicrous statement: " Before Christ there was only murder, not civilization as we know it today." This isn't history, and it isn't defensible.

My 'morals' - I prefer ethics - come from instincts, (thank you genes) reason and plain common sense. It really is so much better to live where people are nice to each other. The irreligious are every bit as likely to do selfless acts to help strangers as the pious. Go on James - fall into a river near me and I will pull you out. Promise.

What utter nonsense. The Scandinavian countries have some of the lowest crime/homicide rates in the world yet the great bulk of their populations are atheist
