That really depends on if you believe in various scriptures and your personal beliefs since that time. How would anyone prove that to you?

In my opinion this would refer to a deity calling down catastrophic punishment on a people or a land. The story of the Red Sea crashing down on Pharaoh and his chariots in the story of the Exodus would be such an event. Or the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. There are no comparable stories in Christian lore or history. In Islam many Jihadists believe their orders from and obedience to Allah to inflict as much chaos and mayhem upon heretics and infidels as possible to be Allah's divine retribution.
