When Pope Francis visited Cuba in September 2015, many thought the milestone event could signal a breakthrough in the campaign to promote religious freedom in the Caribbean island nation.

But now the memory of that papal visit seems to have been forgotten as Cuba's communist regime has launched a renewed crackdown on the Christian faith with reports of churches destroyed, pastors imprisoned, religious leaders' personal property seized and Christians violently stopped from worshipping.

In its latest report, the Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) says the Cuban regime has launched a major crackdown against churches and has seized and demolished at least 1,400 church buildings. The regime is justifying its action by claiming that the churches are unregistered, and therefore, illegal.

The report cites more than 1,000 cases of religious freedom violations, including the "destruction of church property, arbitrary detention and other forms of harassment, in particular seizure of religious leaders' personal belongings."

At the same time that U.S. celebrity’s party in the island of Dr. Castro and Obama step up his policy of concessions to the Castroit tyrannical regime, persecution of Christians have increased tremendously. No hope and change for the worst.

It is interesting to note the only sources for these un-founded claims are xian. But even if true, there is then a delicious irony in the fact one of the most violent, hate-filled, murderous religions in the world is getting a taste of it's own practices.

No, the sources aren't solely Christian. Forbes Welcome

And schadenfreude damages one's character.

Interestingly the majority of the claims were from a xian organization. Major news outlets don't seem to be aware of these horrible goings on. But even if only partly true, these are very good measures and should adopted world-wide.

The Castroit regime continuous cracking down on Christians, destroying churches, stealing their properties, and imprisoning pastors. But regardless of the destruction of Christian churches by its demolition teams, Christians continuous worshiping in the pile of rubles. Their faith cannot be destroyed.

Amid an escalating crackdown on churches in Cuba, a prominent pastor and religious freedom activist has warned that "the threat of physical violence... comes with the territory of being a Christian" in the Caribbean island.

Between January and July 2016, CSW recorded 1,606 violations of religious freedom including the demolition and confiscation of church buildings. CSW

Rev Mario Felix Lleonart Barroso, who has left Cuba after being targeted by authorities, told International Christian Concern (ICC) that the Cuban government closely monitors religious groups.

The Office of Religious Affairs (ORA) is "supposed to mediate and act as a bridge between churches, people, and the government," he said.

"But if you've lived in Cuba or know anything about the way things are from the inside, you know the ORA is nothing more than an arm of the state established to suppress the religious liberties and rights of Cuban citizens. It's just another one of the government's ways to have eyes and ears everywhere."

Theoretically the Castroit regime constitution guarantee religious freedom. Nevertheless, it target Christian with all sort of obstacles, creating serious problems for the churches. Christians in the island keep facing increasing persecution. They face threat of physical violence and intimidation by the regime due to their faith.

Must have been Russian built churches if they found them full of rubles.:lamo

See? Not even the Castro's are totally bad.

Wow look at that. Your apologizing for a despicable totalitarian regime because it persecutes Christians.

And you wonder people like you are irrelevant at the political level.

I was not apologizing, I was and am applauding. About time the xians got some of their own back. Look at all the hell the Vatican has put Cubans through.

Are. You. ****ing. Kidding. Me.

That is one of the most ignorant statements I've ever seen on this website, and I've seen a lot.

Well, you guys started it.:lamo

That just shows the ignorance.

Number one, that you think this is in any way funny; and two, that you support a tyrannical regime because of your own historical ignorance.

Suckered and refuse to believe it.

Suckered and refuse to believe it.

Yes, you have been suckered by a bunch of idiots. After all, you support tolitarian regimes like Castro's which of course reflects rather poorly on yourself and your ideas.

Sure bud. Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night. It must be hard, given your support for atrocities.

I don't support religion at all. Compared to religion, Cuba's acts don't amount to a fart in a hurricane.

You mean, compared to your paranoid view of it. There's a reason militiant atheism has never amounted to anything and never will--- you all are willing to support the worst dictators in the world so long as they oppress people who believe in a religion.

Sucker. I put those comments out just to see who'd bite and I caught a carp. Only the religious have a paranoid view of their murderous history. Paranoid because facts make them that way.

No, most people of all beliefs are decent people who don't support tolitarian regimes like you do.

Really? What about the Vatican? Billions support that totalitarian regime better known as The Church Of The Pedophile.

Yeah, nobody calls it that and it isn't a tolitarian regime. The fact that you call it that shows you have no idea what a tolitarian regime is; not to mention its an insult to millions of people who have died at the hands of actual tolitarian regimes.

The Church Of The Pedophile absolutely fits the definition of a totalitarian regime and has done for near 1400 years. I have no idea what a "tolitarian" regime is. The Vatican's death toll puts pale to any other.
