Cuban Dissidents Arrested On Way to Apostolic Nunciature in Havana

Without a strong and moral USA, most of the world will drift into totalitarianism and secularism.
why would you say this?

[FONT=&]The speculation by the news media about the impact of the Pope’s visit will have on Cuban society is over. Nothing has change, the Pope did not meet with the dissidents, and hundreds of them were arrested. The Pope did not addressed the human rights issues in his speech. The Castroit regime repression continuous unabated.

the pope sound like a bootlicker for the left.

In 2015, the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party of the Castroit regime, which regulate all religious activities and institutions, declared illegal about 2,000 Protestant churches. Many members of these churches are Cubans of African descent. Obviously this have overtones of racially based religious persecution.
The less religion in the world the better.

. It is obvious that this zone of the Malecón seawall was off limit to the motorcade of Pope Francis.

Do you post pictures of old crumbling buildings in places like Flint, Detroit, or any other city in America to show "the failure of capitalism"?

No they don't. Also, I have been to Havana. Some of the collapsed buildings are actively in a construction phase. The REAL poverty in Cuba is not visible with the eyes. THAT poverty is the worry one's door could be busted down by the police at any time. The Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) has a quota of disloyal people to report and falsely accusing people is encouraged. The objective is to maintain a climate of fear.

It's not difficult to go wandering around in Cuba. The worst that will happen is you get deported. All that happened to me was I got yelled at by a police Sergeant.

After giving the top two photos a second look, I would have no complaints about staying in either one of those buildings. I stayed in a "casa particular" for USD 200 per WEEK, which included a window air conditioner and a fresh breakfast made by the lady of the house. It was in the neighboring barrio of Vedado, not right on the Malecon.

Something about post # 21 that doesn't add up: The regime would likely confiscate a church building, not tear it down. They could give it to some military officer as a "bonus" and he could rent it out as a "casa particular".

Post #21 isnt even from Cuba. Its from Webster County Iowa... Parishioners hold watch as Duncombe church is demolished

This just goes to show how honest Sandokan is in his posts. He is a flat out liar.

Source for this? I know who the CDR and what they do, but do you have a source for this "disloyal people quota"?

The owner of the Casa Particular I stayed at. Also people I talked to on a camello not for tourist use. What good would a source do anyway? Much of what's online about Cuba is rumor. Give me some credit here. I'm a hard-cord right winger that saw for himself that several of the "dilapidated buildings" shown on the internet were legitimately under construction. I also found things much uglier than dilapidated buildings.

The Castroit tyrannical regime maintain a tight grip on religious organizations. Week after week the regime security forces aggressively drags hundreds of women away from Sunday mass, and most of them are arbitrarily detain. The regime apply this tactic to religious leaders too.

14ymedio, Havana, 5 February 2016 – The evangelical pastor Marilin Alayo was arrested today, Friday, during the demolition of a temple in the Abel Santamaria district in Santiago de Cuba, as reported to this newspaper by Pastor Bernardo de Quesada, founder of the Apostolic Move, a Christian movement that separated from the Cuban Council of Churches in 2003.

The demolition comes at a time when the church pastor and Alayo’s husband, Alain Toledano, is traveling in Miami.

Pastor Toledano explained through a message on Facebook that, so far, he has been unable to talk to his wife, who is still being held incommunicado, along with pastors of the network and the local church. “More than 40 of our spiritual children are detained in the school in the municipality of Guama, they were beaten, abused, threatened. The other disciples do not know where they are, there are many people detained and so far we do not know where they are,” he wrote.

The three daughters of the pastor were staying with relatives.

“The intention is not only to demolish the temple, but remove the family property,” says De Quesada.

In the face of intense pressure, many Christians are engaging in peaceful protest. The Castroit regime is trying to eliminate the potential for social upheaval by cracking down on any and all groups that are calling for social and political reforms.

It is clear that the regime is determined to maintain a tight grip on churches. The international community should support the religious groups and hold the Castroit regime accountable for these human rights violations.

Baptist pastor and prominent religious freedom activist, Reverend Mario Felix Lleonart Barroso, was arrested on Sunday 20 March by Cuban state security agents, just hours before President Barack Obama arrived in Cuba for his official visit. Before his arrest, Reverend Lleonart Barroso told CSW that his home and church in the village of Taguayabon, Villa Clara Province, had been surrounded by police and state security agents since early Sunday morning.

Following his arrest, Reverend Lleonart Barroso’s wife, Yoaxis Marcheco Suarez, was put under house arrest. State security continues to surround their home, where she and their two young daughters are locked inside and the authorities have cut her phone connection.

The arrest of Reverend Lleonart Barroso, who is a member of the Baptist Convention of Western Cuba, came only a few hours after the violent detention of scores of human rights activists linked to the Ladies in White while they were on their way to attend morning Mass on Sunday 20 March.

Apostolic Church destroyed in Cuba by government agents
Apostolic Church destroyed in Cuba by government agents | Christian News on Christian Today

A Protestant church in Cuba has been demolished under authorization from the government.
Officials demolished the Strong Winds Ministry Church in Las Tunas, eastern Cuba earlier this month.

The minister, Rev Mario Jorge Travieso, has been threatened with seven years' imprisonment if he speaks publicly about the destruction.

The church, which is affiliated with the Apostolic Movement, an unregistered Protestant denomination, is the fourth in Cuba and the second in Las Tunas to be demolished by the government since the beginning of the year.

Travieso told Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) that on 9 April, hundreds of government officials surrounded the property on the outskirts of the city. The minister was detained while the church was destroyed.

Travieso said: "The farm was raided by hundreds of troops from different government entities and they used modern heavy machinery to destroy the foundation which we had built and a brick platform covered with earth. They broke up the floor with an old digger and they confiscated all the pews where more than 70 church members sit, all of the lights and cables and electrical equipment, as well as the tools to carry out work, iron pipes and a private cement mixer."

The Castroit regime, like ISIS, keeps bulldozing Cristian churches, before and after Obama’s visit, without any consequences for its attacks. Not a word by the Obama administration about that the regime must guarantee its citizens' rights to freedom of religious belief and expression.

I'm as fervently against Cagastrado as anyone, but the above wrecks credibility. In Cuba a church building would be taken over and made into a residence. The CPC is a collective despot and Obama is America's biggest come mierda. There's enough truth without inventing "facts".

Still Persecution in Cuba?
Persecution Blog: Still Persecution in Cuba?

June 16, 2016

The United States and Cuba have resumed diplomatic relations after more than 50 years of animosity. President Obama recently visited Cuba. But has anything changed for the church or for Cuban Christians?

Pastor “Jose” is a Cuban church leader, and he’ll share this week a reminder that Cuba is still a communist nation and that our Christian brothers and sisters there are still persecuted. But Jose also has exciting news: Cuba’s Christians are not afraid of the government or persecution and they are boldly sharing the gospel. House churches are being planted and are growing, in spite of efforts by the government to exert control and instill fear in believers.

We’ll also welcome back to the studio “John and Mary,” working among Muslims in Europe, to hear how persecution happens even to Muslims living in free nations in Europe. Mary also offers advice to people sensing God’s call to missions.
The persecution of Christians will not succeed under the Castroit regime, like it has not succeeded in other communist countries. Christianity will continuous to grow and develop through the united and motivated efforts of believers, and help to establish a democratic society for the good of the Cuban people.

Christian charity appeals for funds to fight Cuba church demolitions

A leading Christian charity is appealing for funds to help stop the demolition of churches in Cuba.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide has published moving testimony of what it was like for the pastor and his family when government officials demolished Emanuel Church in eastern Cuba.

"Marilin is dragged from her bed by the police, handcuffed, and led away while her daughters, aged 11 and 12, watch helplessly. Her husband, Alain, is at a conference in Miami. He will not know what's happened to his wife until the next day.

"Just a few hours later, government officials proceeded to demolish the Emanuel Church building in Eastern Cuba – the church Marilin and her husband Alain lead – which is also their home. Two hundred church members were arrested to stop them protesting the demolition."

There is persecution, but not for all Christians. The Christians who are experiencing persecution are those who don’t belong to Catholic Church. The Castroit regime demolishes independent Christian churches and arrests and abuses their pastors and congregations.

More than 1,600 churches have been targeted by authorities in Cuba this year as a crackdown on religious freedom continues.

According to CSW, church leaders have raised concerns that the government's treatment of religious groups has significantly deteriorated in the last year.

Between January and July 2016, Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) recorded 1,606 violations of religious freedom.

These included the demolition and confiscation of church buildings, the destruction of church property and arbitrary detention.

In March, prominent pastor and religious freedom activist Rev Mario Felix Lleonart Barroso was arrested just hours before President Barack Obama arrived in the country for his official state visit.

Religious leaders have also had their personal belongings confiscated, and more than 1,000 churches are still considered 'illegal' and are under threat of future confiscation.

The Castroit regime increase repression against Cristian churches is another evidence of Obama’s Cuba policy failure. Religion persecution has increased in Cuba since the beginning of the year. For progressives people of faith are inhibitors of “progress” and deserve to be excluded from places of power and influence, like in politics, academia, and the media.

Hmm, well, a regime which attacks and destroys churches (if in fact that is actually happening, which I doubt) can't be all bad.

The U.K.-based Christian Solidarity Worldwide has recorded more than 1,600 religious freedom violations in Cuba in the first six months of this year, highlighting the communist government's crackdown of churches, especially the beginning of a process which involves confiscation of 1,400 Assemblies of God churches.

The violations include demolition and confiscation of church buildings, destruction of church property, arbitrary detention and other forms of harassment, particularly the confiscation and seizure of personal belongings of religious leaders, according to the report, which adds, "Over 1,000 Protestant churches are still under threat of confiscation and have not had their 'illegal' status overturned."

Since January 2016, the government has demolished four large churches linked to the Apostolic Movement, in three different parts of the country: in Camaguey and Santiago, and two in Las Tunas, the report says.

While the main street media keep praising the changes supposedly brought about by the normalization of diplomatic relations, the Castroit regime keeps persecuting the Christian churches in Cuba, and the MSM don’t report about the persecution and destruction of churches.

Please, can you explain why are they not reporting it?, Do you have any clue beside your preoccupation with excrement?

In the meantime Pope Francis appointed Juan de la Caridad Archbishop of Havana. The new archbishop praised the Castroit regime saying “The church doesn't want capitalism or anything of the sort, rather that socialism progresses in a just, equal and brotherly society.” So much for the so call “brotherly society.” Sound more like “brothers in repression.”
