Why should a jew care whether christianity lives or dies?

It comes down to this: Christianity is the Jews’ gift to mankind; the most important gift mankind has ever received. That so many modern leftists would say to themselves, “All the more reason to hate the Jews,” merely underlines the point. The natural enemy of the Jew is the natural enemy of the Christian, too—the conscience-hater, the man who wants no witnesses.

Why should a Jew care whether Christianity lives or dies? Because he must care whether the message of Judaism lives or dies, whether the mission of Judaism fails or succeeds.

In the end, that hardly matters. The important question is not why a Jew, but why a human being should care about the fate of Christianity.

And the answer is exactly the same.

um caring about the freedom and well being of others so that others will respect you to is some classic golden rule stuff and right on

saying people don't care about conscience because their on the left and pretending they don't see the wisdom in this

I'm pretty sure that we (Jews) would be better off if Christianity had never existed. That's an awful lot of pogroms, inquisitions, massacres, crusades, and a Holocaust we had to endure at the hands of Jew-hating Christians. I imagine that if the dominant religion in Europe didn't explicitly blame Jews for deicide in their scriptures, then Jews would have been treated a lot better for the last fifteen hundred years. Plus, without Christianity, we probably wouldn't have Islam, either. Maybe instead of a few huge religions posturing and threatening to engulf the whole world in a massive holy war, we'd have a religiously pluralistic society with dozens of different faiths all living together. That would be pretty cool.

Then why didn't Jews just leave Christian and Muslim lands and head East to the Orient or South to black Africa? You could have had your pluralistic utopia there.

And by the way, without Christianity, you would not be posting to the internet. Almost all modern technology came from Christian cultures. Without Christianity, there would have been no Industrial Revolution and no Enlightenment.


As for the original post in this thread, forget about it. Just read the Talmud or that human monster Maimonides. Talmudic Jews come in 2 varieties. The Orthodox hate Christianity because the Talmud teaches them to. And Liberal Jews hate Christianity because they are Liberal. Case closed.

Why exactly is my upbringing and ethnicity not relevant because I don't believe in fairy tales? You added that "observant" caveat because apparently my knowledge doesn't count if I'm not a religious person? It's nonsense. I brought up relevant ideas about history, in what is honestly a really messed up thread that borders on hate speech, and all you have is a snarky dodge.

Also I don't know who you think I am, but I'm not a member of any political forums besides this one.

The thread WAS a "relevant idea about history", (although it is probably also a relevant idea about theology, too) and you call it "hate speech", but not before launching into a fact free diatribe about how the Jews would have been better off if Christianity hadn't existed, straight from the old "Hitler was a Christian" school. Perhaps you missed school the day they talked about all the Christians who tried to stop Hitler like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the other Christians who tried to get the Jews out of the country, Like Oscar Schindler, a Catholic.

Sounded like an atheistic argument to me and it did from the beginning. I thought the "if not for Christianity we wouldn't have Muslims" lie was a nice touch, too. Next you'll be comparing the Republican party to Christianity. Oh, wait...
