Just curious if anyone here has considered using DMT. DiMethylTryptamine is a chemical which exists in our brain. It plays an active role in dreaming, near death experience and out of body experience. It's also the most potent psychadelic known to mankind. Most people trip off of DMT and encounter sentient beings from another universe.

Use of psychedelics to provoke spiritual experiences can expose us to things that our minds and bodies are not yet ready to encounter. Worse, people who use psychedelics frequently often neglect their capacity for spiritual experience while they're sober-- leaving them less developed than they would otherwise have been.

I haven't had the opportunity to try DMT yet, unfortunately. Do you have any experiences of your own to relate?

Bollocks. Drugs don't enlighten you...they just **** up your head.

For the most part. Used carefully, however, they can be a useful tool-- like performance enhancers. The danger comes from viewing them as necessary, or believing that the spirituality comes from the drugs as opposed to merely being exposed by them.

Of course, I've seen a lot more human wreckage than enlightened masters from from walking that path.

No experiences... yet. This is a psychadelic that I'm researching currently and working towards taking in the near future. I've only ever done psilocybins.

Psilocybes would be what I'd recommend for spiritual work. My experience with stronger psychedelics has been that they overwhelm your ability to process your experience, keeping you from gleaning anything useful out of it.

One thing I've found effective is combining psilocybes with meditation; harness the emotional energy from the psilocybe euphoria into a disciplined exercise. If you're studying any of the Eastern martial arts, try a simple candle meditation for an hour-- or as long as you can stand-- after dosing, and then perform slow katas for as much of the duration as you're physically able. Psilocybes lend themselves well to any form of moving meditation.

I've heard of Psilocybes being taken before DMT usage and having an awesome effect, in that awareness is heightened during the trip.

I haven't heard of this theory before, but I would be concerned with the prospect of mixing multiple psychedelics to improve their effect. Seems like a good way to break your brain.

A lot of people say the same thing about Salvia. It does make one question whether or not these psychedelics do indeed give us access to another stream of consciousness or a different dimension. I find it incredibly fascinating.

 no really....

How is it anymore absurd than the idea of an all-powerful invisible deity in the sky creating and controlling everything?

It is not.

Then again, did you confuse me with someone who believes in a lightning bolt throwing white bearded robed god?

No not at all. I'm just asking.

Though I would give slightly more credence to a DMT user because they actually claim to experience these things. I've experienced similar effects with Salvia Divinorum. It did make me question things a lot more than I did before.

So you deny born again types thier experiences becasue they did not take any drugs?

No. I'm just saying that I personally would give more credence to someone who takes DMT because they actually have a first hand experience. Christianity is a faith-based religion. Obviously this doesn't bespeak of all Christians because some people believe they have had first-hand experiences. There really is no belief structure around doing DMT. It's not a religion. It does, however, make people question things.

Why because they engaged in self delusional psychosis?

Claiming "most people" are meeting sentient beings from different dimensions is a pretty faith based claim, no?

Exctasy makes you feel a connection to everything the 1st time, then gets ****tier the more you do it.

Isn't DMT in the same chemical structure group as MDMA?

If it was purely delusional, people's trips would differ. I find it odd that there are similarities among people's trip experiences.

Well, it is based on perception as well. I wouldn't make the claim that I actually met sentient beings. I would, however, say that while tripping I encountered what I perceived to be sentient beings. I would also question whether it really happened on some plain of existence or not. Considering how outside the box these experiences are, I don't think anyone can really say for sure what they experience and whether or not they actually did experience it.

I've never done Ecstasy, so I wouldn't know. However, a lot of psychedelic drugs that I've seen don't really have addictive qualities. I've done Salvia a few times and I really don't have a desire to do it again because it's intense and I know that experience quite well and know exactly what will happen when I do it.

I have no idea. I've never done DMT before, but I have heard that the experience is similar to Salvia, only Salvia is shorter and more intense. Of course, these aren't undeniable facts as I've heard them through other people.

I'm not spiritual in any way, but I would love to try DMT. I've used other psychadelics in the past, and while they haven't convinced me of the existence of extra-dimensional beings, they have inspired thought about the nature of human consciousness and subjective experience.

I don't know how long a Salvia trip lasts, but DMT lasts 5 minutes in real time. To the user, it seems as though they been gone for a week.

Salvia trips last about the same. Is DMT hard to find?

Right on! Thanks. Erowid has always been a very helpful resource.

I've never made it but it seems pretty straightforward(this is basic w/o measurements):

-Purchase Mimosa Hostilis Root Bark along with Paint thinner and lye
-Get a bowl full of water and mix in the paint thinner and lye
-Grind the bark up with a coffee grinder
-Mix the Mimosa Hostilis(now in powder form) in with the water/paint thinner/lye solution
-Let it sit overnight
-Pour it into jars and use coffee filters to grab the powder from the solution.
-Smoke powder :)
