La présidence suédoise de l'Union européenne a officiellement proposé la candidature de Herman Van Rompuy au poste de président du Conseil européen. Même si la désignation n'est pas encore effective, il est acquis que le chef de gouvernement belge deviendra le premier président de l'Europe.
