15 year old Coco Gauff-who won the French open jrs against her current doubles partner Caty McNally in 2018, and then, earlier this summer, took out legendary Venus Williams at Wimbledon, won the Linz tournament in Austria. Coco had to play in the qualifier but lost in the final qualifying round but because she and McNally were in the main doubles draw, she was available when a higher seeded player pulled out at the last minute. This made her a "lucky loser" and she went all the way to the finals, beating former French open Champion Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in three sets. She and McNally also made it to the semis of this tournament: she won the event in Washington with McNally earlier this summer as well.
If you get a chance to watch her play (due to her age, she is limited in how many events she can enter) you should. Her talent is very high and her poise as a 15 year old is unbelievable. She might soon pass up the two ladies most people figured would take over for the Williams sisters in US tennis-Sloan Stephens and Madison Keys. Mentally, she seems stronger than those two.
