Do liberals watch fox to get the other side of the story?
I'm not a conservative, so I suppose they would label me as a liberal, but I don't watch Fox News to get the other side. If you ask me, Fox News is actually
extremely bad for getting the other side out. I think that too much of their journalism is accusatory and fear-based and just plain nasty. Also, I don't like the visuals on the screen - there's just
WAY too many things to look at at one time and so I find it extremely distracting.
I watch MSNBC, and one of my favorite shows on there is "Morning Joe." I like it so much because it
isn't accusatory or fear-based. The panel gets together and they calmly discuss issues together and with others. They treat everyone well, conservatives and liberals both. Also, Joe Scarborough considers himself a conservative and was elected into Congress as a Republican back in the 90's, so I think his views are conservative even though they may not be dogmatic (which is why mainstream conservatives may consider him a RINO instead).
(And just for the record, the only other MSNBC shows I really enjoy watching are Chris Matthews and Laurence O'Donnell but that doesn't mean I agree with them all the time.)
As for getting conservative news, there's a local AM station I enjoy listening to when I'm alone at work. I listen to it because it's one of the few talk shows I can get on the radio. A new show started at mid-mornings with these two guys who lean conservative but they are rather more laid back about things than mainstream conservative pundits, which is why I like them. Also, I've tuned into Lou Dobbs when he airs in the afternoon. I've seen his television show when he was on CNN and I never much cared for it. However, I think he's wonderful on the radio. I think the difference is that when he's on TV he's alone and giving out his opinions whereas on the radio he's talking to and interacting with the audience. I don't agree with most things he says, though, but I do admit he's a good radio personality.
