Should Registered Offenders Be Allowed to live with minors?

Perhaps the problem is right in your first sentence. That group that is suppose to represent society in deciding who is safe and who is not has done a crappy job.

If I made erroneous decisions in my job I would probably be having a lot of free time during the work week.
 
Take a map and draw a circle with a one-mile diameter around every school and day care center. See if there is any place in town a registered sex offender could live. In the last town in which I lived in in the U.S. the answer would be no. Between day care centers and schools the town would have been totally off limits.

There's got to be some place. Because they can't go further than a mile to find a victim. It''s too far.

A voice of reason!!! They can never be trusted, so instead of keeping them locked away at our expense, execute them, and practice zero tolerance in society.

Too costly. They'd put me on an island. They just want to keep me away from their adult children. They don't really want to punish me. That wouldn't be so bad, an island. I want to play the Professor. I'd come up with all different inventions and sell them to the normal people on the mainland.

I largely agree, with an EXTREMELY high standard of evidence being necessary to being placed in that class.

I have met two people in my life whose lives were destroyed by false accusations of sexual abuse by minors who later recanted. Both of whom had prior issues with truth and reality.

So when you're REALLY sure, then its just a matter of deciding whether to stomach their execution or pay for their room and board for life.

Prisons are huge pointless money pits. Whose primary function is to take the marginal and ruin them once and for all.

But there are "animals", both sexual and non, who simply can't be allowed to run around with the kids and old people. Once identified the above dilemma kicks in, lock em up forever and pay to feed them or put them down.

I like people and I believe in second chances.

I am only talking about the incorrigibles, and advocating for more compensatory solutions for most offenders. And the elimination of victimless crimes completely.

I only sound savagely cruel sometimes.:2wave:

There are various terms we can catagorize these perverts into Maggie. It shouldn't matter what age the predator is, only the victim's age. And whatever age is deemed a minor who cannot give consent to sex.

Yes, when false accusations are discovered, the accuser should replace the victim & his/her time. And yes, we should be dead sure & have physical evidence.

I put the bar so high that a pedophile won't even think of touching an illegal aged child. So high that we could eradicate this behavior, or least drive it so far underground few will attempt it. I really want a child molester to be tormented with tortured one year for each victim, and then promptly executed and thrown into a dumpster with the trash (no burial or name plot).

Hell, streaking at a football game can get you on a sex offender list forever.

A distinction does need to be made between " sex offenders" and "sexual predators".

RSO lists that include all offenders frighten unnecessarily, and drown the really dangerous in backlogs, as happened here in SD recently. Resulting in the deaths of two girls AFTER the RSO in question had been identified by DNA evidence gathered from a woman he attacked who kicked his ass.

Probation too busy keeping track of compliance with various laws like the one above to catch him before he did it.

We could use a flotilla of old military ships strapped together. Give 50% of the guns and ammo. Drop them in supplies. Or the North pole with a satellite to track them & destroy them if they leave.

I hate wasting a good island for vermin.

While trying to not further traumatize the kid.

In an old apt I lived we had a sex offender in the building. People were freaking out and illegally posting pictures of him to warn people. He was 20 when he had sex with then his 16 year old disapproving father. Not saying I want my 16 year old with a 20 year.. But they are now Married and when I knew them a child on the way. The were a great couple and very nice. To say he couldn't raise his child. No I don't think so.

Theres pros and cons to everything, but theres one thing everyone should keep in mind...even the experts agree that pedophiles cannot be cured. That in itself makes them a constant potential threat against everyones children. Can we protect all the kids ? of course we cant, but we sure as hell would be remiss if we didnt do all we can.

That's why I think we should put our efforts toward removing them permanantly from society without killing them. Sorry but your problems are too much for us to deal with. You gotta go.
