Well yeah because the media is always looking for a way to sensationalize "oh noes teh poor ghayz zomg". Defending homosexuality is in style right now given the upcoming election cycle. It's about ratings, not substance, I agree.

Just remember, professional sports players are the rich, so by default they're going to be villainized unless they quit, join the Army and give their life.

See that would be a real smart thing to do, because a lot of mags and other media would love to get that interview. He could play this to his advantage.

i think it was ok, he is the role model for lots of kids and he needs to be punished when he does these kinds of things

Actually I have a second thought on the subject.....I think he should do 30 minutes on ESPN talking about what led him to the decision to act out and why he is going to be ok with paying the fine.

Since when is calling someone down for using hate terms considerd PC run amok? I do not care if it is Kobe, Obama or the boy next door: you say stupid crap like this? My take is that it is not anyone else's business at to what words I use. The NBA is a private organization and business and they felt the need to fine him; ok, that's their business. But in general people saying "you can't say X or Y" only pisses me off and makes me use them more.

I don't pay attention to people who tell me what to say either. I definitely say things like "retard" that piss other people off. At the same time, I think it's just as stupid for people to bitch about others criticizing them for their words. Why does it piss anyone off that someone tells them that they can't say X or Y? Who cares?

Just accept that some words piss people off and get on with it. If I say retard, I know that certain people aren't going to associate with me and if I'm a public figure, I'll accept the consequences of saying it in public. If I see someone who uses faggot and nigger, I'm not going to associate with them. It's life - people associate words with certain negative states of mind. It's childish to walk around trying to piss them off.
