We have the 2nd highest tax rate in the world. With that attitude, they'll all take their balls and go elsewhere - then what do you propose?

We need them more than they need us, and that's simple fact.

Let 'em. You think new ones won't pop up? You really believe that any company would even consider not doing business in America? Our corporate tax rate is not that high, by the way. There are plenty of loop holes and the marginal rate is (this is a few years old but I do not believe it has changed) 23.6%. 1

I am not threatened by businesses leaving. Close the loop holes, raise rates, whatever - but they need to start paying and they need to stop shipping all of our production jobs to other countries. If they want to do business in this country, we can and we should put our foot down.

He's just not seeing the whole picture, and almost sounds Americo-centric. There is no way we could do what he proposes because it would create a vicious circle. It's like Henry Ford's old business plan. He originally designed his cars and paid his workers a wage so that his target market was his own employees. It was an incredibly faulty business model that fell flat before some major restructuring.

His argument is also wildly fascist, which is scary in and of itself.

you really don't have much of an understanding of economic reality do you?

Another exciting post by TurtleDude. Not ever addressing the points but wholly attacking the commenter. Have you ever posted a fact with a link or anything?

Yes it is facist to think that people who do business in our country should have to pay taxes.

With what you propose? Nope.

Absolutely.

Sounds okay to me.

How do we do that? Demolish jobs in the country while flexing hyper-protectionism muscles to the point where nobody can afford the products? You're killing people on two ends. You need to quit thinking that America is the be-all-end-all of global economics. What you propose could easily make a corporation want absolutely nothing to do with the United States. You act like people are entitled to purchase and not given a choice to. If they're out of a job and offered to buy something for 150-300% more than it should go for because you're trying to crowd out foreign corporations, you're going to find a whole bunch of your products sitting on shelves collecting dust.

I love watching youngsters who haven't had much dealings with the real world. those who think companies exist to give them a job and provide parasitic politicians with tax dollars.

I post plenty of links-but I usually use logic.

What do you think?

This is how our current Corporate Tax Rate of 40% compares to other countries.

......The Most Business Unfriendly Country in the World (D).......

Common sense would say lower the Corporate Tax Rate.......most Democrats on the other hand, say Corporate Tax Rates should be increased.......as raising taxes on Businesses and Evil Rich People is of course the alltime and current universal liberal solution to all ails.

Now the Left will contend that "Corporations dont pay taxes"....."Corporate subsidies"......"Corporate Welfare"......"Corporations need to pay their fair share"......"I believe every word Obama says"...."Shipping Jobs Overseas"......as their justification for raising taxes on corporations.

....and while there are exceptions, GE, and blue moons, if there was more than a shred of truth to the Democrat's portrayal of Corporations in this country........WHY DOES THE MASS EXODUS OF CORPORATIONS W/JOBS continue in this country? Why do so few countries SHIP THEIR JOBS TO THE US?

I say lower the Corporate Tax Rate to 10%, with a 10% flat tax on individuals, and make this country The Most Business and Consumer Friendly Country in the World. Remove the Liberal chains, and begin to welcome Businesses w/Jobs back to this country, and stop chasing MADE IN THE USA businesses out.

The Greatest Country in the World.......Businesses dont leave these shores willingly.......its at the end of a Democrat whip.

But the large multi-nationals are not paying taxes. GE is not the exception, it is the norm of multi-nationals, meaning the 35% marginal rate is almost meaningless. In fact, corporations are paying less and less of the overall tax burden (see below). This is a trend that should be reversed.

I am in favor of lowering the top marginal rate to 25%, installing a minimum tax, rolling back many of the accelerated write-offs and tax credits and hiring more IRS auditors.

Don't get hung up on the marginal, none of the multi-nationals are paying it. Its only the small, mid-sized companies that actually pay tax at 35%... and they are going anywhere. Besides, the tax is assessed on US income, the location of the corporate HQ isn't relevant.

um.... that has no connection whatsoever to do with the ecnomic philosophy of fascism.... it's sort of like saying it's fascist to eat hot dogs without buns.

I think whysoserious' comments were a facetious reply in response to Gipper. He was being sarcastic.
