Where is the Muslim outrage against thousandfold burned Bibles?

Should Muslims condemn the burning of the Holy Bibles like Christians it do?

and some still wonder why they hate us.

Some don't give a crap if they hate us or love us, it shouldn't be a catalyst to destroy who we are.

Since their actions (burning Christians, not just bibles, beheadings, mass religious hysteria riots, use of their own children as suicide bombers, their treatment of women as less important than their cattle, their overall completely backwards cultures) do nothing to earn the Mayor's respect, the Mayor isn't going to be so dishonest as to pretend he cares how they feel one way or another.

I didn't really give much of a ****, personally it mattered to me about as much as when someone burns a flag because you'll always have your crazies. But as for those who were "pleased" that Bush was burning in effigy. Maybe, now just maybe, that could be because a lot of the left disliked Bush.

Wow.

You managed to figure that out.

That's a surprise....

The opinions of Europeans and religious extremists aside, it is only our actions that matter. One man burned a Qu'ran and a majority of those in his own country expressed their outrage for the action. The media called attention to it, but wasn't that because Pastor Jones called the media to let them know when and where the book burning was going to occurr? Answer is yes. Jones seeked attention for this action, and he got it, but few people in this country support him. That, to me, speaks volumes and gives me hope that we are holding ourselves to that higher standard I mentioned before. If America must lead, than let us lead in this way.

Oh, the Mayor supports him.

He has the freedom to do as he wishes with his property, and he needs no further support than that.

The Mayor also notes that if the burning of ONE (1!) Koran can lead to mass unrest in the streets of our enemies, we're wasting far too much money on guns and bombs. The expense of implementing originalKoranburning.com devoted to Koran burning would be less than the salary of one State Department flunky.

Because we went into Afghanistan and Iraq to piss of a religion of 1,000,000,000, right? :doh

It'd be much better trying to start a war with China, at least that way we can cancel our debt to them.

I wish our liberals would get as upset when muslims burn our flag and pictures of our presidents and chant death to america, whine as much about how that sucks as they do about the pastor burning the quran and the subsequent animal shows they muslims have been performing

I doubt any Liberal is tolerant of Islamic terrorism and the people attacking America on 9/11, so stop being an asshat...

The solution to Islamic terrorism is not burning the Quran... that's just giving them more reasons to hate America. This Christian leader is no better than the Islamic militant leaders IMO. They are all perpetuating hate, and you're buying into it. I really don't understand how somebody can't see hate is still hate, no matter if it's Christian or Islamic. Praying in the name of Jesus doesn't automatically make you right or superior.

I know this is a tad off-topic, but it has been mentioned in the thread.

If people want to burn the flag that is their business (even thought I do not agree w/ it and think they are a-holes) and it is also protected by the 1st Amendment.

It's been mentioned many times. The people who want this dastardly insult to islam stopped (ie, the left in America) never cared about the First Amendment anyway.

Its called an object reality. We are attempting to qwell a violent, intolerant, conservative insurgency in Afghanistan. We don't do that by burning their holy book.

You might not realize this, but those ultra-conservatives are pretty damn intolerant of other peoples' views, and get pretty pissed when something like this happens.

Bull****. Plenty of liberals on this forum have condemned or criticized Pastor Jones's actions yet still adamantly maintained that burning the Quran should not be banned because we believe in the importance of the First Amendment. Morever the person who actually brought this national debate up happens to be someone named Lindsey ****ing Graham. (That's right, a dude with an R next to his name). Your bull**** generalizations are just plain amazing.

So what exactly is wrong with people who dislike Bush being pleased when his effigy is burned?

It's hard to believe that the Mayor has to explain this, but he supposes that children must learn someday.

In America, the President is a comic figure, especially Bush and Obama and Clinton. In the rest of the world, the President, not matter who he is, is a SYMBOL of America, and when the primitives are burning any president in effigy, they're metaphorically burning the United States.

Since the United States is where Mayor Snorkum is raising his children, Mayor Snorkum is not happy when any of those animals burn any effigy of any president, because it's a threat to his children.

And your mistaken belief that a (R) means "American" bears what relevance to this discussion?

Just pointing out intolerance, and ultra-conservative views like that of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Well, personally, talking **** about our politicians, criticizing our leaders, and burning **** seem to me to be national pastime and the epitomical embodiment of free speech in this country.

You certainly don't do that by turning America into Afghanistan.

No, the Mayor is perfectly aware that the religous kooks in America are intolerant. He's been voting against the Liberals for years now.

Mayor Snorkum really needs to consider not making such overgeneralized statements. Makes Mayor Snorkum's arguments fairly irrelevant. Now, unless Mayor Snorkum can demonstrate that those on the left do not care about the First Amendment, his comments have no validity. Another option might be for Mayor Snorkum to rephrase his comment so it is not such a logical fallacy.

Well, we really can't help you if you can't figure it out.

You are mistaken. I have figured it out very very well and have for a very long time now... and your posts here on the subject only serve to provide a very emphatic period at the end of the sentence.

Of course, at some point down the road, I fully expect to see you or others who share your feelings make a post about the hate in the Middle East directed toward America and the irony will be sweet indeed.

The significance of the "R" says that those who are concerned with the actions of Pastor Jones are hardly exclusive to "the Left."

Mayor Snorkum notes the left wants the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" applied to all broadcasters except those on NPR.

Coincidence?

Hardly. NPR already has it's anti-first Amendment censors in place.

Mayor Snorkum notes that Egene Deb was jailed for speaking out against the war following a law passed by the oh-so-Progressive Wilson, the origional anti-American leftist.

The list is long.

Then Mayor Snorkum needs to add the qualifier SOME to his statements. That way Mayor Snorkum will avoid unpleasant logical fallacies.

And you're claim that the (R) denotes a non-leftist is based on what species of mushroom?

Bush was a leftist. So was McCain, Nixon, Ford, and the other Bush, too. There's Olympia Snowejob. There's most of the repulsive members of the US Senate.

Seriously dude, the (D) indicates an enemy of the Republic without (D)oubt. The (R) indicates un(R)eliability.

Debs was a socialist. NPR is a nonissue. What is more of an issue is your failure to rebute any points presented against your....."argument"

You keep telling yourself that.

And I just realized, you didn't refer to yourself in the 3rd person, CONGRATULATIONS!
