Would you vote for a Presidential candidate that promised that he/she would keep a live broadcasting news reporter on themselves at almost all times? Barring military talks, private time with family, and talks with leaders of other nations while in those leaders home countries?

Depends on how he feels about other issues.

I don't trust attention whores or anyone who doesn't appreciate the value of private talks.

Wait...two things here...

One: A person is willing to put everything they do before the judgement of the entire nation to prove that they are trying thier best for the nation and they are attention whores?

Two: Did you miss the part where I excluded certain types of talks? (military, private life, talks with foriegn officials in thier country)

Aren't all of the things the president does that can be filmed, already filmed?

I said yes, but they would have to still agree with me on political issues obviously.

I would think this candidate was nutz.

Any candidate who promised something so silly would be too much of a wing nut to get my vote.

No. Other than a speech when was the last time you saw the inside of the Oval Office in the news?

It's probably because most everything that happens inside the White House that isn't currently filmed, and released is classified.

Yes. Politicians already operate under a spotlight. I would question the motives of anyone who invited the press to encroach that much further into their business. The President may be a public servant, but he is not public property; he has the right to continue conducting his personal affairs without interference while he serves.

No. But your exclusions did not cover talks with foreign officials in our country, nor private negotiations with domestic organizations. Such a promise would prevent the President from having any dealings in confidence, rendering him incapable of mediating in union disputes and using any of his own personal influence-- outside of his naked authority as President-- to accomplish his national agenda, which would include the issues which he has promised to pursue on behalf of the public. What you are talking about is a massive impediment to his ability to do his job.

The President's powers exist far beyond what he is capable of ordering. If he doesn't have the space to work his magic, he is diminished.

I would tend to think such a candidate was too stupid and dishonest to elect.

All that will come of this is that someone will turn it into a reality TV show in the vein of OctoMom or Jon and Kate + 8.

Its quite interesting how this thread is turning out. So many people demand transparency from our government and the President and yet when given the opportunity they are filled with suspician and think the person is "nutz" as MaggieD put it.

Interesting indeed.

Maybe... I am not sure if it's safe for the country or the president. I would have to know more, and I would also need to their stance on the issues. However, I am open to it...

I was starting to think it would be like a reality show too, but in the White House... wait a minute, I think the candidate he is asking us about is Sarah Palin.

Trick question! Trick question!

If he shared the same political views I shared then sure.

I'd be more impressed if the candidate agreed to dress like a Nascar driver, so we knew up front just who his sponsors were.

Not only would I not, but I didn't, I voted for Palin.

Indeed, just like when this candidate promises to close Club Git'Mo within a year, and 3 years later not only is it still open, not only has this candidate supported holding certain prisoners indefinitely without ever charging them, but plans to keep doing so into the foreseeable future.

You can support government transparency without supporting stunts that diminish the authority of the office of the president. Far from allowing the public an uncensored glimpse of the White House, it would cause the president and the White House staff to censor themselves for fear of doing something stupid, or making an outside-the-box or un-PC suggestion that didn't play well on cable news.
