For someone who's "very liberal" the graph shows that you're much more of a moderate liberal, very interesting.

Far left, although I usually test in the middle of far left and center.

The terms liberal, conservative, centrist, etc, really have no definite meaning, so the terms are used to describe our political beliefs in relation to the people around us. There is a general vague consensus of what the words mean, but nothing more. I labeled myself very liberal when I joined because where I live, is a pretty conservative state, so compared with the people around me, I am "very liberal", but with comparing myself to the rest of the country, I'm a pretty moderate liberal I believe. I am more of a social liberal then a fiscal liberal, I'm probably closer to a libertarian on social issues, but hey, labels are just labels.

Too many conflicting definitions for me to be able to answer this question coherently. I am first and foremost an authoritarian and a progressive; I consider myself beyond the petty dichotomies of democratic politics.

Yeah...definitely right wing.

Well, I think of myself as more liberal, but every time I do a nolan-chart type thing, I end up smack in the middle of centrist, leaning up towards libertarian. So, I don't fit here =(

"You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream -- the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order -- or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, "The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits."

i would say i'm "up" :)

Fair enough. If I could find a consensus about where I fell, I'd have no problem stating my affiliation as such.

You're definitely right wing, however you'd probably be lambasted by certain individuals if you identified as Conservative, as they seem to think it's synonymous with Libertarian, so Other is probably the safe bet.

I'm slightly left of center overall. On specific issues My views range around a lot though.

I am a conservative, obviously.

Oh and Reagan's quote is silly and an oversimplification of what life actually is.

I support Gay marriage, believe in very strong environmental regulation, progressive taxation and think our country is dangerously close to an oligarchy with only an illusion of citizen participation in the process.

I am also a strong supporter of Israel, am absolutely dead set against Islamism, have very mixed feelings on abortion and absolutely loathe the way the global left has become so reactionary that all it takes is the term "right wing" applied to most any subject to get them to support it's opposite.

American Conservatives usually call me liberal or worse. The illiberal Euro leftists usually call me "right wing" or worse. I must be doing something right if I can manage to be both simultaneously.

So I guess Kori would be "up" and "left"

Does it matter? I mean what's the difference between a little bit to the left, and a little bit to the right? Also, since those terms don't have concrete definitions what is right, or left, or center to someone, may not mean that to someone else. It seems like a pointless argument to me.

Well, it's not an argument. And I said using the "American political spectrum" to define left and right....

The problem I have with the "American political spectrum" is that it is very contradictory. Believing in State's rights and a small federal authority is considered "right wing" and using that metric, I'm pretty far right of center.

But I'm also quite socialy liberal with regards to how I would like my own State to operate, which would put me left of center in some people's eyes.

I even did a poll once to determine how people viewed me and what I got was generally centrist with some people thinking left of center, others thinking I'm right of center, and some thinking I'm dead center.

At teh same time,I consider myself pretty far right, using the State's rights argument, with the caveat that I believe in constitutional amendments which preserve equality and civil rights and place a limitation on individual States from passing laws that oppose this principle. (i.e. jim crow laws)

I usually test out to be a center-right social moderate.

Another problematic aspect of using the American definition of left and right would leave the American right opposing everyone else but the taliban, left or right, around the globe.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the most conservative and 10 being the most liberal....I would put myself at about an 8...maybe a 9

I assume you mean far right....

Like Alexander Hamilton?

"It's not tyranny we desire; it's a just, limited, federal government."--Alexander Hamilton

....even the biggest leftist of that day and age......would never pull a lever for a Democrat today.

lol Hamilton a leftist...you said it yourself, it was "that day and age." The modern labels we apply to liberals and conservatives today had almost no meaning back then.

Left and right are pretty much the same with a few variations. What is being called the "center" in this discussion? What is far left and what is far right?

There are far too many variables.

There should be a none of the above or better yet, a neither because I'm informed.
