If you had to pick which one?

If you had to pick which one would you choose?

None of the above. And don't say that's not an option :p
We have the option of not voting.

I wouldn't pick any forms of communism. Like capitalism, communism and socialism presume that the world has infinite resources and so all they examine are the means of production.

A resource-based economy is the only thing that can save the human race from long-term decay at this point.

Not a ****g clue, again I'm still figuring it out, nor do I think I will ever succeed. But it's nice to give a worth while idea a second chance.

I will give you a hint why you will never figure it out..... Communism is a failed idea. You should just grow up and let Communism rot in it's grave.

Marxism is the original Communism, Marx's writing in a nut shell is of a Utopian society, everyone is equal, none more than another. Plus anarchy, his beliefs were of a stateless society. Ranked 3rd for me.

Marxist-Leninism is Lenin's tweaking of Marxism, which share many of the same principals, but has the idea of a vanguard party, because anarchy never lasts. My number 1.

Trotskyism is again elaboration on Marxist-Leninism, but he preached of the impossibility of "Socialism is one nation", basically having only one Communist country. He also believed in permanent revolution, revolution until the extinction of capitalism. Number 2

I'll group Moaism and Stalinism together as they are basically the same thing. These are what most people think of when they think of Communism. These are the ones that involve secret police, brutal policies, mass murder, restrictions of rights and other fun (sarcasm) stuff. Not even worthy of ranking.

Please we you see "Communism", don't think of Stalinism and Moaism right away, remember the other three, that aren't really that bad.

You say they all originate from Marxism and the problem with Marism is that it's about a Utopian Society

Straight away you see the foundation is nonexistence. I still cannot understand why Marx is revered for his work.

I am having very mixed feelings at this time. I don't really know what to do. I think I'm having an epiphany right now, my realization that Communism does really suck. But I'm still mulling it about my mind.

So not to get your hopes up, Imma still be a Socialist if I abandon Communism ;P

Which of the five most prominent forms of communism would you pick if you had to?
Not a damn one. I would rather drink Drano.

Odds are you'll change your mind about that too, once you have a decent income, some property, and a couple kids.

no offense or anything...

He might not. He's Canadian, and if he have an opportunity to live in Europe for a while, he might even become a more confirmed socialist. I have known American conservatives changing their mind about a national health services and unemployment support after living in the UK. I don't mind paying taxes for a less stressed life.

At least it's a step in the right direction. Just keep it up and one day you too will see the light of Capitalism.

Juiposa have you ever read the book Animal Farm?

All I see is:

Capitalism can be slavery as well....
A shame, why not learn about these, have you ever wondered why so many embraced these for so long ?

They're all equally stupid, so it's really just a question of body count.

Disagree.
Maybe Leon Trotsky
Lenin may not have been "bad" at first.
The trouble is, we as Americans have been fed hundreds of years of anti-communistic propaganda..
So, we know little of these men except negative things.
Or, if capitalism is so great(and it is not !) then why has it feared communism so ????

I picked Trotskism 'cause it sounds like I'd be eating pigs feet, which is better than the alternative Moaism, after all, who really likes giant, flightless birds?

I don't "have" to do anything I don't want to.

Choose something I don't believe in, because I 'have' to? I wouldn't and I would suffer the consequences.

Well, not really. First as Communism goes, the U.S.S.R. only began it's communist rule in 1917 and the anti-Communist sentiment only started post WWII, that's 1945. So we've only been "FED" for 63 years, not a few hundred years. I'm sure Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin loved their mothers, started out in the world very idealistic, had a puppy they loved and cared for etc. etc. So what? Everyone starts out in the world innocent - as people they did what they did, they lived how they lived and history judged them. Is there an "up side" sure! Isn't there always? Denzines of National Socialism equivocate how they were misunderstood and how the geocide was a "mistake", but hey! They're people too! They eat, sleep, love and laugh like the rest of us don't they?

No system is perfect. Capitalism isn't, Communism isn't, but some are better than others. Capitalism is better than others - most if not all others. Is it "great"? Define great. This is not a defense of Capitalism but an accurate depiction of Communism, which was worse than others, which is why in Russia, it no longer exists. I know... it was perveted and wasn't pure, Marxism wasn't followed, it was supposed to be about the workers.. bla bla bla. Problem is, human nature was overlooked in the equation. There is no "pure" Communism or "pure" Capitalism or pure anything - all of these systems have their faults and have to accomodate for those faults to survive. Capitalism feared Communism out of a belief that Communists were out to convert and take over the same way the Nazi's did. The fear was mostly in the belief that Communist Russia would use nuclear arms to fulfill that goal. History since the fall of Communism shows that a lot of what we thought in the 1950's-1980's was incorrect. I'm sure the Communists fear of Capitalism had similar views... all of which is academic at this point.

Communism is a bad form of government, while it sounds nice on paper, it is not realistic as a way to govern in the real world, and only leads to the exploitation of the masses by greedy leaders.

The first post of intelligence I have read on this thread.

Edit: If I had to pick from the list, I'd pick a .45 to the brain. This poll is akin to asking how one wants to die: live dismemberment, burning to death, drowning to death, eaten alive by animals, or suffocation.

I have no tolerance for anyone that advocates taking away my rights because they think they know better.
And when your practice of your "rights" tramples on the rights of the masses, then what ?
Have your ever wondered what bought on the scourge of communism in the first place ??

Try Imperial Russia ruled by the Tzars. When Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto most of Russia was still much serfs.

I know exactly what they are and their differences off the top of my head...don't need to google it. Capitalism is freedom. Just because some people feel the choices they made led to something they don't like, doesn't mean they are enslaved. That's the fallacy that socialist and communists try to use to portray Capitalism as anything other than what it is...pure freedom.

Damn straight we don't. The only thing we want to know about Commies is their compass bearing, longitude, latitude and range... so we know where to aim the Howitzer.

Which is exactly the wrong way to "defeat" any ideology.
Or, have we learned anything over the past millennium ?
