Taco Bell uses "Grade D Butt Edible" beef in their food. I've known this for years and I still eat it on occasion. All this uproar over "OMG, you mean it's not 100% pure beef" is pretty funny if you ask me. We all know what hot dogs are made of and yet we eat them too (because they are delicious).
And to those blaming a particular political party, really? It's somehow the evil Republicans fault because they did what exactly? Anyone with half a brain cell (that will exclude some of our partisan hack posters from both sides from the rest of this discussion) knows that eating McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, Hardee's/Carl's Jr, Checkers/Rally's, Whataburger, In 'N Out Burger (and any other fast food restaurant you can think of) every day is not healthy. It's not the greatest quality beef, it's greasy as hell, and it doesn't provide the vitamins, nutrients, minerals and protein that a body needs. I might eat fast food twice a week myself. I get a craving for it, but I also realize that eating too much of it is not good for me. I need to eat vegetables other than greasy, salty fries to get what I need to stay healthy. I need to eat meat that is a higher quality than "Grade D Butt Edible". This isn't the fault of the "evil Republicans", it's the fault of bad parenting.
We all learned about the four food groups in school. We all know that we need a balanced diet to stay healthy. We all need exercise and sleep for our bodies to work at "their full capacity". If we are deviating from that information that was presented to us, it's because we learned that it's OK to eat fast food all the time from someone. My money is on parents. If parents aren't cooking nutritious meals at home and not taking us out to a fast food joint (or bringing it home) 4-5 nights a week, how can one decide that fast food is OK and it isn't dangerous? It has to be taught at home too.
I love Waffle House. I mean, I really love Waffle House. They have the absolute best hash browns in the world hands down. I take mine scattered/smothered/covered. For those of you not familiar with Waffle House, that's with onions and cheese. Now I know that it's not all that good for me and I need to counter my love for WH with eating nutritious meals in addition to eating greasy, buttery, fat food. It's not the "evil Republicans" fault that WH is allowed to serve such tasty food. It's not the "evil Republicans" fault that that food isn't the best thing in the world to be eating 4-5 times a week (and I don't). There is this thing called moderation that seems to be being ignored here. You can have too much of a good thing (or a bad thing in relation to the topic at hand). Excess of anything that isn't healthy for you is dumb.
So I guess what I'm trying to say here is that the government isn't going to "fix" anything here. It's up to us as individuals to look at ourselves and what we are doing to our bodies. If you don't know that Taco Bell's "meat" isn't 100% pure Grade A beef, you don't really have much of a clue now do you?
