It will be another normal day. However, I feel crazy people and nuts will do terrible things the day before because they really believe the earth will end the next day.

As I can see I'm going to take a beating for this, but I think it's possible. I'm not 100% convinced one way or the other, but I believe it is possible that the end of the Mayan calendar can signal a drastic change at the very least.

FACT: the Earth's poles are constantly shifting (magnetic north is moving at an accelerating pace)
FACT: the Earth's magnetic field is weakening at an alarming rate (it has actually flipped several times before throughout history - last time was 730,000 years ago)

Ancient structures that have been unexplained:
Aramu Muru
Machu Picchu
Nazca Lines
Ollantaytambo
Sacsayhuaman
Stonehenge
Tiahuanacu
Yonaguni Monument

Does any of this provide proof that "ancient aliens" existed? Does any of this provide proof that the world will end on 12/21/2012? Does any of this provide proof one way or the other that God (or a God or Gods) exist? The answer to each of these questions is no. But I believe they do raise questions.

I believe in the existence of God. I believe there is a higher power than ourselves. But I also believe that there is a possibility that God doesn't exist. I believe that there is a possibility that our existence here on earth and the existence of so many unexplained structures (and I barely scratched the surface of these with my list) could be the work of "ancient aliens" that could have been perceived as "Gods". I believe that there is the possibility that we could all be here by accident (Big Bang, evolution). Bottom line - I don't know and neither do any of us.

So in summation, I'm unsure if anything will happen on 12/21/2012 or if it will be just another day. I'm unsure if something does happen if it will be "all of a sudden" or if it will be a gradual change. I asked what everyone thought and you have voted as such. I'm not here to try to convince anyone to change their mind or to believe any of the theories that have been presented. All I'm trying to say here is that there is a possibility that 12/21/2012 may signal something unbelievable and significant and that none of us know beyond the shadow of a doubt that anything will or will not happen on that date.
 
12/21/2012 represents another date on a calender that happens to be the winter soltace for 2012. Das ist alles.
 
I wish the world would end every time my calendar ran out, that way I wouldn't have to buy a new one.

I'm betting that this 2012 prediction is akin to others like it before. I don't put much stock into it and if there is something to it, there won't be a lot I or anyone else can do to prevent it. Soo... I refuse to live my life in fear that it may or may not happen.

I remember back in 1999 when the big Y2K scare was going on. Supposedly, nothing would work, everything would shut down and it was supposed to be major chaos. I worked at a financial institution then, and I remember the panic among the higher ups that we were headed for BIG issues come midnight on December 31, 1999.

That day came and went.. and for all our preparation, nothing happened.

I'm not going to worry about the end of the world. I'm sure it will happen eventually, but to sit around and worry about it or stress out about it - seems pointless. If the earth implodes, the sun explodes and takes us with it... there is nothing we can do. Whatever happens, happens.

In the words of a famous comedian, if the Mayans couldn't predict the catastrophic end to their own civilisation, I hardly think I'll listen to their predictions on the end of ours.
