Where is your favorite place to shop for groceries?

The poll is multiple choice. You may choose more than one.

The Commissary :) But that's only once-a-week.
For everything else: The Dollar General.

If I can't pull either of those off - then Kroger.

I NEVER shop at Walmart, Target and other places that sell grocery-items (either with a full or partial grocery department) because big-name box stores gut you on cost.

You are fortunate to have commissary privileges. Not only are the prices lower, but you don't have to pay the sales tax, which in some places is as much as 10%.

Dollar General is a good place to buy certain snack items.

In town we have a small country-market that is ridiculously expensive. They opened, though, to get some business from our Dollar General which stocks a large array of food-items. Small town - the only store *in* town is taking advantage.

I had been going to mainly Walmart and Kroger (for their sale items), but now go to Publix (for their sale items) because it's just such a pretty store. I wouldn't go to Walmart, but their prices are right. Walmart isn't pretty no matter what they do to it, and putting up with all the people and kids makes shopping a very unpleasant experience.

Meijers. Any one in Michigan knows what Meijers is, most of the rest of the country just has cheap imitation Wal-Mart.

My favorite store is a small chain supermarket called Caputo's. It's Italian family owned; lots of ethnic foods; great produce department; great deli.

I absolutely abhor national chains. They are expensive...as big as freakin' warehouses...and the customer service leaves much to be desired.

I'll take my neighborhood grocery every time.

Not only is it an awesome place to shop, but I've heard a million and one great things about working there.

Also, around Thanksgiving Alec Baldwin did an ad for them. His mother won't leave the Syracuse area because she doesn't want to be without Wegmans, so he went there to visit her on a holiday and cut the ad while he was in town.

Besides Walmart, I haven't heard of any of these.
