Partisan Science

Looking at the debate over global warning, it appears that both sides of the debate have their own studies and citations. These different sources of information appear to have no common meeting points. Would this be an example of partisan science?

Personally, I feel that science is involved in the pursuit of truth and the possibility of science being altered for political purposes disgusts me.

I dont know what you're talking about. According to many of the liberals who post on this board, there IS no debate reagrding Global Warming, nor on mankinds effect on it. It's all 100% agreed upon. Complete and utter consensus.

This supports my point about partisanship, I think. Each side believes that they are 100% right and data that does not support their claim is somehow inadequate.

My sophomore year Environmental/Biology professor said this when he and I were talking about how science and politics interact. "When politics affect science so much that finding become altered to support political goals, you no longer have science anymore. Instead what you have is politics."

Politics should stay out of science. We need to do our experiments and look at the data and argue within our own groups as to what the data means. As soon as politics gets involved, it becomes all but impossible to get through the tripe and propaganda and get to the actual data and results.

Yes, it is. In fact there is probably a lot more partisan science going on than most people realize. Reasons? Grants, Funding, Tenure, Publish or Perish, and yes even fame...

You need to walk the streets downtown at 2:00 am and flash alot of money. You will find lots of friends.
