I'm pretty comfortable where I am, though I do have some libertarian views. Socialists are parisites on freedom. I hope they all see the light some day.:2wave:

I assume when you say freedom you mean corporate freedom? If so then yes. And obviously they aren't like the right wing libertarians, that movement came after when they stole the name.

I'm on O'Reilly's side there. (also rather dishonest of them to say he called himself a white supremisist. He didn't say anything of the sort)
McCain wanted to pass that God Awful amnesty bill that would have made 20,000,000 illegals legal. We tried something like that before in the 80's and all it did was encourage more illegals.
We need immigration reform but that's not it.
Yes, Hannity and Beck talk about communists and socialists. We need to stay vigilent against them so we can continue to live free. I hope they keep talking about them so we don't fall back to sleep.

Worker's controlling their workplace. Citizens controlling their community. Equality for all races and gender. Great standard of living for everyone who works, or is unable to.

No I mean freedom to work, earn money, raise a family, buy a house, have a dog, things like that without much government interference.
To be allowed to keep most of what you earn and not be taxed unfairly. Free to move wherever you want, free to go to college and take the courses you want.
Free to give to charities, free to help your friends and neighbors. Free to come and go as you please. Free to say what you want about your government. Free to make what you will of your life.....

All of that is present under Libertarian Socialism. Except it also guarantees, food, water, housing, clothing just to name a few.

I went back and listened. We'll just have to agree to disagree. O'Reilly is a blowhard but he's not a racist. He shouldn't have expressed himself in that exact way though and I understand how some would find it offensive. I found where the left tried to nail McCain for that same interview.

Well I am not concerned if McCain agrees or not, which is only what the author addressed. What O'Reilly said is clearly racist and I'm not sure how else to take it. He doesn't want the power in anyone elses hands but the white christian males, and that is exactly what he said.

I told you to find evidence of Fox bashing the left. (I'm sure you could scrounge up something) They aren't perfect.
I said I'd bring evidence of MSNBC bashing the right and that I would give 3 examples for every 1 you find.
MSNBC has to do with it for competition and that some wanted to see both in a cage beating the crap out of each other. I said MSNBC would win that fight. All they do is bash the right.

They were also talking about terrorists and not just illegal immigrants. He doesn't want the floodgates open for us to be taken over by anyone. I don't either. People need to get in line if they want to become American citizens.
I'm done with this topic. I agree he shouldn't have said it that way.

So, how about setting up a scenario for me so I can picture what life in a socialist country would be like.

What kind of a job are you going to set me up with, for starters.

What job? That is up to you and in some cases depends on if there is a shortage of jobs. The society would be structured into communities and the communities would be united for security purposes through a federation. The workplace decisions would be made by the workers and community decisions through direct democracy.

He believe in single payer health care.
Social security, medecare, medicaid are just something we're going to have to work on to keep them in place. I know they're social programs but no system is perfect. I don't know where you got the idea he was a free market guy. He said himself he was a socialist.

Ok then. I'm a worker in a factory. It's a pickle factory. Trucks come in with loads of cucumbers and we can them and ship them out.
100 people work there. Who tells me what to do on Monday morning when I arrive?

The workers would create an agenda, you would have an assigned role. Once you complete everything assigned you could leave. If you refuse to work or just don't then you would be kicked out of the community, as you are not contributing.
