I really like Newt Gingrich....the man I've seen over the last number of years....the political pundit...yada yada yada. He talks a game I can relate to. He's also talking about a run at the presidency.

I can't help but compare him to John Edwards. (Newt came to the hospital when he wife was having cancer surgery to get divorce papers signed.) I also think that most people think John Edwards is the scumbag of all scumbags.

Is there a difference? Would his conduct years ago with his soon-to-be-ex prevent you from voting for him?

Does not stand a chance.

Its not just the signing divorce papers in the hospital....its the fact that he was then cheating on THAT mistress all the while being a true hypocrite and condemning Bill Clinton. Newt has the ethics and integrity of a sewer rat. There is no chance that the country elects him. Zero.

Ditto with everyone else, and on top of that he's published a book saying how he is a big proponent of the individual mandate that Obama passed with health insurance and presumably the next Republican presidential candidate is going to be running as someone who will sign a bill to stop the healthcare bill. His hypocrisy will show on that issue again. It's just too much.

Absolutely not. Hell, all Clinton had to say to Newt was, "We're a lot alike, you and I," and Newt resigned shortly thereafter. Although I'm sure the gullible will swallow the rhetoric whole, as they have been. He's on FOX. He must be a good man, right?

There was more to his image problem than that. Our current Majority-leader elect was one of those who wished Newt to be removed from Speaker of the House. This and other issues led Newt to not return to office even though he still had time to serve. There were numerous tug-of-war issues between Newt and many Republicans that made the relationship jarring, to say the least. Perhaps those wounds have healed about now, but I could easily see them becoming an issue once more, as people can have a difficulty in changing their leadership and/or working styles. Then, if the Iraq war ever became an issue again, he was the one who promoted Lt. Mcgreggor (sp?) to Rumsfeld, which gave ammunition to the idea that they needed less than 50 thousand troops in Iraq to make it work well.

I don't know why I said Lt. when I meant Col. Macgregor.

Leaving aside his repellent politics, his name would be enough. The "Newt" is a unit of drunkenness around here, as in "P***ed as a newt!" Too silly.

That isn't a good enough reason on its own not to vote for him, though it definitely hurts him.

Agreed. He's in John Edwards territory.

Actually....he goes one step further....John Edwards is a scumbag too....but at least John Edwards didn't preach about family values all the while committing adultry on the side.

BTW....this poll question is extremely misleading and I think as a result the results are completely inaccurate. Your original title is "Do you think Newt is electable"....and then you flip it in the actual poll. Perhaps you meant to do that (aka FauxNews style).

I wouldn't vote for him anyway, but why would it?

His infidelity wouldn't matter to the Republicans because they basically ran the same type for president with McCain.

But anymore, the crowd wants that new fresh face. Not a Newt or Fred Thompson.

I would probably vote for Newt. I wouldnt even consider Palin.

I would say that Newt would have the tiniest better of a chance than Palin... who has the tiniest better of a chance than Eisenhower winning in 2012.

In other words. Not a chance.

I agree. I voted incorrectly because of this set-up.

OMFG. I was under the ridiculous assumption that people actually read questions before they answered them. The poll is the poll.

Oh, all right, she said begrudgingly. I guess I get it. Unintentional.

I totally agree with the FNC set up, and I am beginning to realize it was likely done intentionally just like at FNC.

You're exactly right. Done absolutely intentionally to effect the outcome of 2012.

So you don't want me to notice your dedication to FNC talking points and tactics? Does it shame you or what?
