In the lame duck Congress, the Dream Act may come up.

Are you for it or against it?

I am totally against it. If you are here illegally then **** you, there should be no paths to citizenship for you as long as you remain in this country illegally. Get the hell out of the country and go through the legal means of coming and staying here legally. Going to college or becoming a POG in the military should not earn you easy legal status or citizenship. Now if some people who are here LEGALLY wish to join a combat MOS in the Marines or Army(obviously this offer would be closed to females since women can not join combat MOSs) as an enlisted soldier for a period of 3-4 years(depending on combat MOS) to get a easier or quicker path to citizenship then I would have no problem with that.

Its nice to see people selecting the "Make votes public". You can see who actually voted and so far only 2 for yea! and 3 for Nay!

I am against the DREAM act. It rewards illegals for breaking our laws and treats those who are legally trying to enter the country in an unfair way. If someone is breaking our laws and living here illegally then they are no patriot worthy of quicker road to citizenship. They are a criminal worthy of deportation and being prevented from ever entering our country as a citizen.

Totally for it. It's a practical way to deal with a bad situation.

interesting result on this poll.

as for me, no. do not reward illegal behavior.

Against it. We don't need another band-aid fix, we need immigration reform. Even if it's passed our bureaucracy cannot follow up, track or validate these requirements or achievements. This would be yet another failed fix to a broken system.

I see a lot of tea-bagging anger here, as well as the usual fear and ignorance.
This seems to be a good idea, who is the progressive that thought it up?
Forget spell check, I too and angry, and its NOT conservative GOP!

Typical conservative response.
And ideas of substance, or is this left to the lefties??

You don't agree with immigration reform? I mean, sure pushing for a band-aid with the Dream Act sure helps the Democratic voting base by purchasing votes... I mean that's basically what it comes down to. Full blown immigration reform wouldn't gain as many votes so you wouldn't be in favor of that right?

Sadly, I see that this poll has been contaminated by the filth from 150 tea-bagging conservatives.

Awww.. you can get the stench of 150 flaming Progressives to equal it out. They're too busy with their lithium and vomit buckets after Tuesday though. Shame really...

I'd be fine with it. I've only known one person that this would apply to. Their parents moved here illegally and they actually never told the kid. He went to get a drivers license and found out that he was an illegal. I'm all for deporting the parents, but nothing is gained by deporting the kid. He was a bright, college-bound individual who didn't do anything wrong. Had he gone through to college and graduated (not sure if he did - I didn't keep in touch), he would have been a productive, tax-paying resident. I see what we lose by deporting him, but not what we gain.

The Dream Act is basically more or less throwing illegals into the military so they can either kill or get killed abroad correct? Considering my views on foreign policy and I dont believe in rewarding (if you considering making someone dependent to the state a reward) law breakers so Im going to say no. I can understand why some would favor it.

You don't agree with immigration reform? Of course, something MUST be done, but what?...My idea...Sit down our President, the Mexican President, and an intelligent "illegal immigrant" at a table out in the hot desert without security food water, only pencil and paper...Gentlemen, solve the problem, you have 8 hours....WHY are so many coming over here, Mr Mexican President?? Is Mexico a hellhole or is American simply better? .. To our President, if these things are so, WHY NOT blanket acceptance.....end of problem..... I mean, sure pushing for a band-aid with the Dream Act sure helps the Democratic voting base by purchasing votes... I mean that's basically what it comes down to. Full blown immigration reform wouldn't gain as many votes so you wouldn't be in favor of that right?

My radical ideas are too radical even for me....The "Dream Act" is a first positive step.
IMO, this "votes grab is BS..."
Conservatives, learn to treat people decently and they may vote for YOU! I could say that to the woman who tried to degrade the so-called Latinos in her state.....but ...deaf ears prevail....
Did I ever say that we need better people in politics?
With so many lies and corruption, votes being bought and sold.....
Its a wonder that the Mexicans wish to come here....
They are here to eat, NOT VOTE.
I'll repeat...treat people with respect and they may vote for you.....

Should I go to this "immigrant infested area" and see if a problem even exists?
Or should I read a newspaper and believe what they write.
What does Rush L say ?
Or Palin ?

Its not the wealthy who will suffer, its the poor, the working poor.
Nor is it me, unless the tea-bagging conservatives are successful in repealing social security.
Lithium?

What the hell are you talking about? I neither understand your comment nor the changes you made to my post when you quoted me.

I am no tea partier and there is no ignorance and fear in my statement. Illegal immigration should not be rewarded period seeing how all it does is encourage more illegal immigration. Allowing illegals a free pass just because they go to college or the military is absurd, especially considering the fact the government is supposed to be stopping illegal entry and punishing those who are here illegally. The idea that an illegal can even walk into a government facility or office without getting arrested should be abhorrent to everybody.

This seems to be a good idea, who is the progressive that thought it up?

Probably the same scumbags who thought of amnesty for illegals and so called immigration reform compromise.

Well, in times past the United States has inducted citizens through military service.

I find it ironic people complain about the government not operating at the level of the private sector when they are ones tying it's hands behind it's back. Just like Jim Crow racism.

While the anger is a bit much for me, I agree with the general sentiment.

If you are here illegally, you do not deserve a path to citizenship... you deserve to be sent back to whatever country you came from. You're taking spots away from legal immigrants who followed the rules, and whom I welcome with open arms.

See, "deserve," that's the problem. People bring all these complicated moral specifications to government that prevent it from doing what is economical.
