LOTR or Star Wars?

LOTR by a nose. Mainly due to keepin it old school with elves, dwarves and orcs with a bit of good old fashioned magic in there. I'm more old school than futuristic.

"A long, long time ago,
in a galaxy far, far away..."

If episodes 1 and 2 were never made then star wars. But that's not the case so LOTR gets my vote.

The introduction of Jar-Jar binks is a textbook example of a series (film or TV) "jumping the shark". lamest, gayest, retardedest, estedest piece of garbage character ever created. Gungans in general...what genius thought that having an entire race of beings that speak like retarded 3rd graders and look like deformed, flop-eared frogs would be a good idea? my give up

Happy Days did go on for a few seasons after the shark episode.

yeah, but it was never the same. don't forget, if it weren't for those last few seasons we would have never been subjected to "Joanie loves Chachi" :vomit:

Lol at star wars, Harry Potter was better than this ****.

Gungans didn't bother me as much as Anakin accidently blowing up a space station and shouting, "Yahoo!" Given the choice between editing out that or Jar-Jar Binks, I'd keep Binks.

Darth Maul needed more camera time.

Oh. My. Gosh.

You just had to go there. :lamo

LOTR. Better acting, better looking actresses, more drama, more feeling, more.... well, just plain more.

There's more romantic chemistry in 5 seconds of longing looks between Aragorn and the daughter of Elrond than in the entire Star Wars films.

More drama and excitement in the Charge of the Rohirrim on the plains of Gondor than in all of SW Episode 3.

I'd rank the LOTR movies about even with star wars. The LOTR books beat both movies by a decent margin.

In general, LOTR was far more epic, in terms of movie quality.

But part of that is due to the avilablity of CGI and the like.

Star Wars, you may recall, is slightly older (at least in movie terms) than LOTR.

Old Star Wars with current movie-making Tech - would potentially beat LOTR in epicness - I mean, after all, they have all of a galaxy to play with, as opposed to a single planet.

That said, I normally prefer the book version of any given story over the movie/TV version - so much more can be put into a book.

I even liked many of the various books set after or during the Star Wars movies better (in some cases) than the movies themselves.

Blah, it still has futuristic type machines and things of that nature. But, who knows, maybe mankind already destroyed the earth once or twice. Maybe we already have explored the galaxies.
