There are many SW book series that fall after the original triliogy in the SW timeline. I think many of them include advances in weaponry, not too mention other developments.

I have noted that SW weaponry (at least from the Empire) seemed somewhat focused on "massive destruction". I recall in one book a mention of this ship that could, basically, fly into the core of a sun and cause it to go supernova - and survive.

Don't think ST ships could handle that - although they could likely cause a supernova with a robotic device of some sort.

It's sad that I knew exactly what you were talking about.
It's called a Sun Crusher, it's in the Star Wars RPG game books.

Sun Crusher - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki

Dammit, we're in the same boat. I knew that too. >.< It's also mentioned in some of the SW books.

The Sun Crusher appears in the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson. Designed and constructed within the Maw and overseen by Admiral Daala, the Sun Crusher has a nearly indestructible hull made of quantum-crystalline armor. The primary weapon is a torpedo launched into the heart of a star that causes it to go supernova, obliterating everything in the local solar system.

Suck on THAT, Enterprise. :2razz:

Unfortunately for Star Wars, their targeting computers suck compared to Star Trek. In all of the SW movies, entire fleets of starships would do 18th century ship of the line tactics by using broadsides. In ST, it's more of a submarine 3D fight, but both sides can see each other provided that there wasn't any celestial phenomena around to disrupt their sensors.

Well, don't forget the battles with starfighters. That's more like WW2 era dogfights against each other or aircraft carriers.

"The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system."

That sounds like pretty precise targetting to me, sir. ;)

If you recall in ANH, the only person that was able to make the shot was Luke using the force. All other attack runs before his failed due to poor targeting systems.

I would say I liked both equally, but I also would have to say that Star Trek is the best. Plus a little bit of Stargate Sg1 ahah. Is it sad that I know what the targeting systems of Star Trek, Stargate and Star wars space air craft are and how good they are with the targeting system. God I love being a Nerd!

Edited to put in Star Trek

Suck on this, ST & SW

The plan to blow up the sun in order to destroy Apophis' fleet is to dial P3W-451, the Stargate being drawn into a black hole, allowing the gravity of the black hole to remove enough stellar matter through the Stargate to disrupt the balance between the forces of fusion and gravity in Vorash's sun, thus creating an artificial supernova.

Yeap he only got the targeting systems to work using the force. I would say that is piss poor programing for a targeting system. Hell star Trek has better targeting systems than some of the ships in STAR WARS. However nothing bets a Goa'uld Mother ship well maybe a Asgard mother ship and the Tolloan and Nox weapons systems, since the Tolloan created a weapon that destroyed a Goa'uld mother ship in one shot from the ground.

Oh and yes Whovin that was a bad ass episode when they destroyed Apophis' fleet. Hell I think Sam out did herself but it sucked when Apophis went in too hyperspace at the last moment.

Well he didn't exactly get the targeting system to work with the force. He turned off the targeting computer since ground control asked Luke repeatedly why he turned it off then the comments about him doing it.

Yes true but he still used the force to make the shot did he not?

I have always had a huge crush on her :blushing2

I loved her comment in another episode when someone brought that sun up...

Y’know, you blow up one sun and suddenly everyone expects you to walk on water!

I looked up too her she is the bomb, but I lol'd at that comment as well.

too bad yer too young and in TX...lol. We'd get along great...'cept for that whole 'liberal' thing you got going there

Aw hugs I am 22 years old but meh I don't care what people are just as long they are great firends.

At the risk of exposing my true inner nerd, only one other pilot even got to take a shot at the exhaust port, the others were destroyed by Vader and his TIE squadron. So... Two shots on a target only slightly larger than a person, one shot was good (though Force-aided) the other was so close to the mark that it appeared to be a good hit at first. Pretty good shooting, if you ask me. :)

Star Trek technology would wipe out any and all Star Wars baddies AND goodies within a day. The transporters ALONE would demolish them. Darth can squeeze only so many necks at a time but more than say 12 Star Fleet personel attacking him with phasers at once would kill him. Lets not even GO to the lesser of the Force users.

Star Trek wins on technology and their military style tactics. Hands DOWN! :2mad:

Who needs conventional weaponry when you've got Q?

"I find your lack of faith...disturbing." - Darth Vader

Why would it be a one-on-twelve fight? The Empire alone has far more troops than the Federation, but since you brought it up, how many Federation personnel did you say it would take to kill one Force wielder?

E3 2010: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 E3 Trailer in High Definition

What setting would you use on your phasers for that situation, do you think? ;)

Would not have too. Q or the Borg could handle it with ease! Hell, what would Star Wars do against Klingon and Romulan ships that cloak? Oh I know, be destroyed, lol.

Now you've awakened my full-on Dork Mode! You neatly avoided my question, since I specifically mentioned the Federation people armed with phasers in Noodle's post. However, for the sake of argument, Q rarely chooses to involve himself in the affairs of mortals and he is only one god-like being. The Force is a transcending energy encompassing everything. To compare the two, it would be like arguing who would win a fight between a single deity and a metaphysical life force.

...and the Borg? lol. One hive mind makes it that much easier to pull off a little Force mind control. Imagine a Sith taking control of an entire race and using them as their own personal soldiers.

The Star Wars universe has cloaking technology for both ships and individuals as well.

Ok, I think I'm going to crawl back into by basement cave now...

Unfortunately for you Lucas revealed where the force comes from... Midi-chlorians! Nothing more than a non-sentient micro organism! With a transporter, it would not be that difficult to subdue and subjugate all force sensitive people by killing off the midi-cholrians. So much for the farce, I mean force. Bwhahahahahahahhahahaha!

Kinda hard when the force has been eradicated.

technically incorrect...
Force (Star Wars) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Midi-chlorians and the Chosen One
Midi-chlorians (also spelled "midi-clorians" or "midichlorians") are a microorganism in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, first mentioned in The Phantom Menace. They are microscopic life-forms that reside within the cells of all living things and communicate with the Force.[6] They are symbionts with all other living things and without them life could not exist. The Jedi have learned how to listen to and coordinate the midi-chlorians. While every living being thus has a connection to the Force, one must have a high enough concentration of midi-chlorians in one's cells in order to be a Jedi or a Sith.[7][8]
They would have to be sentient, to communicate with all life and with the Force. Also, this would indicate they do not 'cause' or 'create' the Force, but communicate with it.

My mom's basement is comfy, there's Cheetos down here. Alright, further proof that I'll debate anything:

The fact that YOU know where the Force comes from does not mean that everyone in a Star Trek Universe would know that. They'd have to obtain a Force positive individual first and then perform an extensive amount of testing on them before being able to positively indentify it's source. In the meantime, the evil Empire has wiped out your life as we know it. ;)

Your analysis of midi-chlorians is also wrong. They are sentient organisms that serve merely as an indicator of a person's Force aptitude. They are not the Force.

Midi-chlorians were intelligent microscopic life forms that lived symbiotically inside the cells of all living things. When present in sufficient numbers, they could allow their symbiont to detect the pervasive energy field known as the Force. Midi-chlorian counts were linked to potential in the Force, ranging from normal Human levels of 2,500 per cell to the much higher levels of Jedi. The highest known midi-chlorian count belonged to the Jedi Anakin Skywalker (over 20,000 per cell), who was believed to have been conceived by the midi-chlorians.

Midi-chlorian counts were measured through a blood test; the Jedi used this method to locate Force-sensitive children before their Order was purged by the Galactic Empire. With the rise of the Empire, research into Jedi and the Force was banned, and though midi-chlorians continued to be tested for, sometimes by the Empire itself to root out hidden Jedi and other Force-sensitives, knowledge of them was diminished and inquiries into them were branded as illegal medical research. Midi-chlorians were only rediscovered after a New Jedi Order was founded.

When not forbidden, studies of midi-chlorians occurred among those who could master the Force and those who could not. While medical teams worked to understand the relationship between midi-chlorians and the Force, Jedi healers performed their own studies of the organisms. Even more esoteric studies were conducted by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Plagueis, who discovered a way to manipulate the midi-chlorians to create new life.

However, here's a list of non-Force related superweapons that could pose a wee bit of a problem to your Delta Quadrant. ;)

Centerpoint Station
Centerpoint Station is an ancient space station capable of moving entire planets with its tractor beams; eons ago, it moved the planets Corellia, Drall, Selonia and possibly Talus and Tralus to their current location. The station sits at a Lagrangian point between the latter two worlds. The tractor beam system can be used as a weapon capable of destroying entire stars. In addition, it can project an artificial gravity well spanning the entire Corellian System, making hyperspace travel within the system impossible. Centerpoint was designed to work in concert with the planetary repulsors of the five Corellian System worlds. It was theorized that this could be used to increase the range and accuracy of the "Starbuster" beam. They could also be used to produce gravity wells anywhere in the galaxy, or even one spanning the entire galaxy.

In the Corellian Crisis, Thrackan Sal-Solo, a cousin of Han Solo, intends to use the station to force entire star systems into submission and restore the Imperial system in the Corellian Sector. This plot was averted. During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Anakin Solo refused to use Centerpoint Station to destroy an entire Yuuzhan Vong fleet in the Battle of Fondor, so Thrackan Sal-Solo fired it instead; however, his aim was off, resulting in the destruction not only of the Yuuzhan Vong fleet but also of a great deal of the allied Hapan fleet as well. Kyp Durron and Dr. Seyah destroy Centerpoint Station in Fury.

[edit] Darksaber
The Darksaber appears in the novel of the same name and was built by the Hutts during the New Republic era. It was a long cylinder housing a Death Star superlaser. A New Republic commando team led by General Crix Madine infiltrate the weapon's interior and sabotage it. However, none of the three commandos survived the mission. When a New Republic task force arrived, the Darksaber was chased into Hoth's asteroid belt, where two large asteroids crushed the Darksaber.

[edit] Death Star
Main article: Death Star
The Galactic Empire's ultimate terror weapon, the Death Star is a giant spherical military station with a superlaser weapon capable of destroying a planet. A Death Star appears in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and another in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The designs for the Death Star are visible in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and a Death Star appears under construction at the end of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. A prototype Death Star with a functioning main weapon was found inside the Maw, but was destroyed when it fell into a black hole.

[edit] Eye of Palpatine
The Eye of Palpatine is an automated "battlemoon", dwarfing even a Super Star Destroyer, disguised as an asteroid. It was intended to wipe out a Jedi sanctuary on the planet Belsavis. The Eye of Palpatine was disabled by a Jedi, Callista, before it could be used and was forgotten until decades later, when former Imperial agent (and suspected concubine of Palpatine) Roganda Ismaren and her son, Irek, attempted to control the vessel. During the attempt by Roganda, Jedi Luke Skywalker and Cray are taken aboard. Cray destroys the ship. The marked difference between this ship and many others of its size, was the use of a somewhat sentient Artificial Intelligence, dubbed "The Will" to run the ship. It also has the capacity to control all the droids on the ship and take over all the firing ports.

[edit] Galaxy Gun
The Galaxy Gun appears in the Dark Empire II and Empire's End. It is a gigantic artillery piece that fires shells, which travel through hyperspace, then revert to normal space to destroy targets. The shells this gun fires contain special chemicals which react with a planet's core causing it to become unstable, thereby shattering the planet quickly. The Galaxy Gun was destroyed in the events of Empire's End when a Super Star Destroyer, the Eclipse, was rammed into it.

[edit] Mass shadow generator
The mass shadow generator is a superweapon in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The mass shadow generator uses the gravity of a planet to generate a quantum singularity. The singularity is made to destabilize, creating a "gravitic implosion shockwave." In orbit around Malachor V, the Mandalorian armies were quickly destroying the battered Republic army sent to the planet. The general on site—the Jedi Exile -- activated the superweapon. The destructive power destroyed almost the entire Republic fleet, and destroyed the Mandalorian armies completely.

[edit] Star Forge
The Star Forge appears in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Created by the Infinite Empire of the Rakata thousands of years before the rise of the Galactic Republic, it is a giant automated shipyard. It draws matter and energy from a nearby star to create an endless supply of ships, droids, and other materiel. After the fall of the Infinite Empire, the Star Forge was deserted and eventually forgotten, although a series of Star Maps held the Forge's coordinates. It was eventually found by Revan and Malak, who used the Star Forge to create an endless fleet with which to fight the Republic. Depending on what path the player's character takes, the Star Forge is either destroyed when Darth Malak is killed or used by Darth Revan to create a fleet of starships.

[edit] Sun Crusher
The Sun Crusher appears in the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson. Designed and constructed within the Maw and overseen by Admiral Daala, the Sun Crusher has a nearly indestructible hull made of quantum-crystalline armor. The primary weapon is a torpedo launched into the heart of a star that causes it to go supernova, obliterating everything in the local solar system. The Sun Crusher is destroyed when Kyp Durron flies it into a black hole.

[edit] World Devastator
World Devastators appear in the Dark Empire comics and the PC/N64 Star Wars: Rogue Squadron game. World Devastators consume the material of planet, using it in their internal factories to produce new war machines for the Empire. The Emperor, fearing that these weapons could be turned against him, included an override code in their programming. The Rebels acquire this code through R2-D2 and order the World Devastators to consume each other. The world devastators were designed from ground-based walking construction droids, which use a molecular furnace to 'consume' and remake debris and other items into useful/new constructions.

[edit] Yo'gand's Core
Yo'gand's Core is a Yuuzhan Vong method for destroying a planet, invented in ancient times by the Warmaster Yo'gand. A massive dovin basal deployed to the target planet's surface disrupts a moon's orbit and causes it to crash into the planet. The Yuuzhan Vong use this tactic to destroy Sernpidal in Vector Prime.
