Star Trek or Star Wars?

Star Trek or Star Wars?

My mom's basement is comfy, there's Cheetos down here. Alright, further proof that I'll debate anything:

The fact that YOU know where the Force comes from does not mean that everyone in a Star Trek Universe would know that. They'd have to obtain a Force positive individual first and then perform an extensive amount of testing on them before being able to positively indentify it's source. In the meantime, the evil Empire has wiped out your life as we know it. ;)

Using info from outside the movies is the best you can do? You don't even want Trek book, cartoons etc info added to this. You would be overwhelmed by the mind boggling amount of information and tech.

Your Star Wars warped mind could not handle the complexity's.

Your analysis of midi-chlorians is also wrong. They are sentient organisms that serve merely as an indicator of a person's Force aptitude. They are not the Force.

Without the ability to communicate with them, technically there is no force. This according to the MOVIE.

However, here's a list of non-Force related superweapons that could pose a wee bit of a problem to your Delta Quadrant. ;)

Not really.

Cloaking
Time travel
Far superior weapon's in general
Tactics better than WWII era
Midi-chlorians killable life form.

All spells doom for Star Wars. :peace

technically incorrect...
Force (Star Wars) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They would have to be sentient, to communicate with all life and with the Force. Also, this would indicate they do not 'cause' or 'create' the Force, but communicate with it.

I am sorry wiki does not apply hehehehe.

No they would not have to be. We communicate with animals and they are not considered sentient.

I figured anything that was canon in either universe was fair game. I'm not arguing that Star Trek doesn't address more technical details in their fiction, but for sheer firepower and military might alone I’m fairly sure that we’ve got you Trekkies stomped no matter what you bring to the table. You're just speculating, I'm posting proof. :2razz:

Ad Hominems in a nerd debate thread? You're attacking my intelligence over which sci-fi genre I like? Please… ;)

Nerd Debate only here, por favor.

I already proved otherwise, you're interpreting it wrong.

I’ll chalk this up to you not having as much exposure to the SW universe. We have all these in certain instances…except for the last one, I’m not sure where you were going with that…

On the contrary, my dear Watson…

All I have to do is say is travel and it's lights out for Star Wars, that simple. Since you want proof....

I was joking. It's a nerd debate, lighten up you sniveling nerf herder.

Not according to the movie, so sorry.

No place in Star Wars did they time travel, lets add transporters to that list and midi-chlorians are a according to cannon a micro life form. All life forms can be killed. Kill off them and no contact with everything or the force.

No they would not have to be. We communicate with animals and they are not considered sentient.

First, some would disagree on your comment about the sentient nature of animals, so that's a wash.

As for wiki, I'b be happy to point you to any number of online resources considers 'canon law' in regards to Star Wars, that agree with what I posted from Wiki. So there :2razz:

...and midi-chlorians are a according to cannon a micro life form. All life forms can be killed. Kill off them and no contact with everything or the force.

Technically, kill them off, and all life ceases, as they are symbiotic and one cannot exist without the other (that, is 'canon' on just about any site you care to google in regards to the SW universe).

Don't have to kill them all off. Just need to reduce the levels to make force sensitives no longer sensitive. :2razz:

What’s “is travel?” I’m not familiar with that… and I can’t use youtube here at work. (Yes, I’m at work. Judge me for not working!)

Not according to the movie, so sorry.

No, according to the movie, and as Whovian already stated, midi-chlorians are a part of all living organisms and to kill them would be to kill all life, including your Federation crew. A bit self-destructive, I think.

Again, see above about the midi-chlorians and there are at least 9 confirmed cases of time travel in the Star Wars canon. We don’t have transporters, true, but I think you really overestimate the advantage that gives you.

As soon as an animal laughs at a joke, or can appreciate something like art, get back to me.

Because a few loons think we eat and enslave sentient beings means nothing. No proof of such exists. The closest science has come is with baboons, and that is only rudimentary if at all.

So no, my argument stands.

Not in the movies, so it does not matter.

OK I am done here. You guys are taking this way to serious. To be honest I think that is what scares me the most.

Not in the movies, so it does not matter.

No one else in this thread stated that this discussion applied to only movies, including the OP, you're only bringing that up because we're kicking your Starfleet ass!

Your concession of my victory is noted. The Nerd Battle is mine. Slink away through your wormhole, scum. We don't serve your kind here.

This was the result when Michael was asked to paint his interpretation of the emotion anger

Doesn't have to be in the movies to be 'canon' in 'the universe'. :2razz:

You got to be kidding? An ape finger paints, and they are sentient, LMAO! Like he recognizes it as art.

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Animals 'are moral beings'
"Living within a group requires a moral code of behaviour... Most animals that live in communities exhibit similar moral codes to humans.

"Zoologists who have spent their professional lives studying animal behaviour, either by observation or by experiments to test their mental capacities, believe that many animals feel and think."

Joyce D'Silva, chief executive of CIWF, told BBC News Online: "The whole climate over whether to accept sentience has changed hugely in the last 15 years.

You can laugh all you want, but it does not change the fact that a large number of scientific minds believe that some animals are indeed sentient. Just because they don't know Van Gogh from my 10 yr. olds crayon drawings, doesn't really change that.

I guess we'll have to just agree to disagree.

You need a scientist to tell you animals feel and think to some degree? This again does not make them sentient. I mean cows live in herds, I guess they also have a moral cow code? LMAO!

Sorry not to derail the thread, I will agree to disagree as well.

You guys amaze me.

No wait, amaze isn't the right word.

Appall me.

That isn't quite right either.

Hang on, I'll think of it....
