I am a sucker for a female with black framed glasses.

Glasses used to be anything but a fashion statement. Today is a little different in that often times, glasses styles are seen as a stylish accessory.

So is the old saying, "Guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" true or is that hangup a thing of the past?
Doubt glasses would bother me, unless they were really thick-framed and ostentatious.

On the other hand, the right glasses on the right female can be quite hot, so perhaps the would "bother" me.

Why? What is appealing about thick black frames all of a sudden? I don't get it - it completely elludes me. When I was a kid that was the generic frames for poor kids whose parent's couldn't afford anything else - thus - I got stuck with them. They were associated with poor, nerd or ugly my entire life - after years of being picked on *for* having to wear them suddenly people like my husband are trying to get me to wear them - get me to CHOOSE to wear them.

I just don't get it - of all the looks to have - why is that now the "sexy" glasses?

Nerds are the new cool.

Fads and determinations based on such arbitrary quantification factors never make sense.

Eh. I have black, thick frames... the same frames in red. A blue pair that are bottom rimless, some totally rimless and a couple of wire rimmed. I have to say I love the plastic/acetate black and red frames best. Can't say that I really care whether or not someone likes them or not.. I like that I feel comfortable in them. *shrug* For years I 'hid' behind my glasses.. now I've found a new confidence. I don't know if it's because of my age or what. I have wondered what it'd be like to wake up and be able to actually SEE without reaching for my specs... but I think I'd almost miss my glasses. As weird as that sounds. But I am out of touch with what is 'in' and what's not. And my teenagers tell me that on a daily basis.. hence my question.

I guess I get miffed when things that I got my ass kicked for on the playground suddenly become 'fashionable'

HRMPH!! pfrrrpt

I think they are very sexy on women! And I wear them in lieu of contacts or lasik.

Glasses are very attractive on a woman. I am drawn to the Forehead -so I pay attention to the eyes an the facial area when I am looking at a person. Oh , and in those quiet moments that are filled with the intense rush to be felt and wanted. Her glasses are one more thing you can remove to reveal her natural splendor.

I caught the edge of when being a computer nerd was bad and when it was cool. People looked at me funny when I started getting into audio. My headphones caught attention and so did the iPod (as well as the music collection). Things change, is all.

At least my kids aren't treated so harshly over their apearances and problems like I was.

Fashion is somewhat fickle though.

but she is not a nerd. :2razz:

No, obviously one of the cool kids, what with her jaded air of ennui and her colorful history of excessive drinking, casual sex, and dabbling in blood sacrifice.

Clearly her character is under attack.

Clearly her character is under attack.

Yeah... by her.
Nobody else has come forward with these bizarre allegations.
They've come from her own mouth.
Most of her opponents' objections are far more mundane, having to do with her misuse of campaign funds.

Clearly her character is under attack.

Actually, she is under attack for good reason. This is someone who had a lien placed on her home for failure to pay taxes, someone who used campaign donations for living expenses, who spent campaign funds for mileage, even though she doesn't own a car, who spent campaign funds to go bowling and on other entertainment, and to pay rent. Ironically, she is the same person who says that the government needs to spend it's money responsibly. If she can't be fiscally responsible in her own life, then WTF is she doing campaigning for a job in which she would need to be fiscally responsible for more than 300,000,000 people. Yes, her character IS under attack, and the attacks are more than justified. In addition, Mike Castle would have won the seat, but the GOP now has to give up that chance, because they are running someone who has demonstrated her incompetence in spades.
