I tried that, planted eggplants, damn things are awful.....don't even look like a regular egg...:2razz:

I love eggs. When I joined the navy, I would eat all of them I could. back home, mother said they were too expensive, so we rarely got them.
Since my cholesterol numbers are good, I don't worry about that aspect of eggs. If the eggs look like they haven't been cleaned properly, I throw them out, but that is rare.
Was the rumor going around that there was saltpeter in the eggs when you were in?

Way I heard it, they put it in the mashed potatos. Or was it in the "softee" ice cream dispenser?

It's sacrilege to use anything other than bacon grease.

I can say BOTH ways are acceptable if one's triglyceride levels are okay. I use EVOO though sometimes when I'm out of butter and bacon grease ... which allows the eggs to be choked down in a pinch. However, I will give one other suggestion:

LARD. Yes that's right. LARD.

bacon grease is permitted...if there is no butter available.

LOL

I start my bacon, get some grease in the pan, pour some of that grease into a smaller skillet and then fry my eggs in it.

I see. The eggs were powdered when I did my thing, so it was easier to believe. Of course, so were the mashed potatoes, so one never knows ...

My late FIL would fry sausage patties, then cook his eggs in the sausage grease, then sop his toast in the grease still in the pan after cooking the eggs. His doctor told him that he knew dead people with better cholesterol numbers...

I used to eat 1 or 2 Red Baron 4 cheese pizzas every week, with ham and/or sausage added, and sometimes with extra cheese.
I also had "heart attack on a plate" breakfast every morning, 2 eggs, ham or sausage, etc.
Doctor tells me my cholesterol numbers are not bad, but could be better if I exercised (yeah, right, like that will ever happen, besides doctor weighs at least 300 pounds and he is telling me to exercise). Once I tell him my diet, he says, nevermind, if you can have these numbers and eat like that, you are OK.
My wife inherited her dad's cholesterol situation, she takes meds, and eats like a rabbit, and that helps, but she will always have to take the meds.

Well, I have eggs and bacon once or twice a week for dinner. At a max. 4 slices of bacon, 2 eggs. Still under 400 calories, good protein, and some fat content that I need. And yummy!
And, I also workout 8hrs a week.

My sis, on the other hand (4 yrs my junior, and much healthier weight than me) - just had 3 stents put in and is on blood thinners and cholesterol meds. My father is on cholesterol meds too. When I told my new doc this (that my sis had a heart attack due to clogged arteries and high cholesterol and she's 4 yrs younger than me), my doc ran the appropriate tests for genetic cholesterol problems. I came up clean, minus a serious Vitamin D deficiency.

So I feel okay eating my eggs and bacon in moderation.

I forget who said this, probably a comedian, but the comment was that we will all die of something, and that it would be silly to die of nothing...

I had a couple awesome eggs over easy this morning. Some sourdough toast and coffee...yummy! I'll take the chances, if I ain't worried about terrorists, I don't think I'm gonna be chased off by an egg.

I had bacon and eggs last night for dinner because of all the egg talk, it made me want some. LOL
