Yes it is, it's also bigoted towards Christians and all non-Muslims. It's bigoted against everyone that isn't a Saudi Muslim.

I think Sharia law is barbaric to all walks of life including homosexuals. That's why I live on THIS side of the world where we ain't gotta worry about it.

Our President said that Sharia Law has "an essence of tolerance and wealth, beauty and relativity." (CNN, Aug 9, 2009, interview with Campbell Brown).

And since President Obama is right on *everything* and never wrong, you sir, cannot disagree. If you do, you are a racist bigot.

I think you need a "diversity course".

A good place for diversity teaching would be the Ground Zero Mosque; I am sure they will have a class on "diversity training" so that you can change that view of yours from barbaric to submission.

Post a link to Obama saying that, because I can find no such link. The only thing I found from CNN that day relating to Obama was a story on whether or not the media was paying too much attention to him.

I don't know about bigoted... but I'm fairly sure in some areas of the middle east it's downright life ending.

And $25,000,000 of the money for the GZ Mosque is coming from Saudi Arabia.

Sharia Law defines homosexuality as a deep rooted perversion.

If that is true (and it is), how does a liberal progressive support the errection of a mosque that will be teaching blatant homophobism?

That be the truth. Sharia Law is not kind to anyone not agreeing with Sharia Law. Don't like atheists either. Those jerks! Though none of this really matters to any of us seeing as we're not likely to live in a country which adheres to Sharia Law. Way to go democratic republic style of government!

Actually the version of Sharia Law most popular in Indonesia doesn't even ban gay marriage. It's more open to homosexuality then American laws.

Same way they support the rights of other religious groups they have disagreements with. As a Libertarian, one would expect you to have a better grasp of this principle.

2. First amendment rights.

How does a conservative justify doing away with constitutional protections of civil liberties?

You do know that Christianity, Catholicism, Mormonism, Judaism and probably a bunch of other religions consider homosexuality as sin too, not just Islam? The only way you are going to see a gay wedding or even a gay pride day in a church, synagogue or mosque is if its run by phonies. Sure Christians, Catholics, Mormons and Jews(real/religious Jews, not Jews in name only) or any other religions that views homosexuality as a sin are not out there chopping off the heads of gays or stoning them. But as others pointed out muslims in parts of the word outside the middle east are not chopping the heads off gays or stoning them.

If you enjoy reading the Koran, not only you should have a look at the Bible, but you should also read books such as the "penitence book" by Burchard of Worms (1010) :p

"Did you mate with a women "doggy-style"? If yes: 10 days of penitence, with a water & bread diet"
"Did you fornicate like the sodomites, introducing your stick inside the behind of a male? If it you are married, 10 years of penitence; if it is with your brother, 15 years"
"Did you commit sodomy on cows, sheeps, or any other animal? If you don't have a spouse to appease your lust, you will fast during 40 days; if you have a spouse, you will fast 10 years"
"Did you drink the sperm of your husband, so that he likes you more thanks to your evil behavior? If yes, 7 years of penitence"
"Did you introduce a living fish inside of your genitals, until he died, then cooked it for your husband so that he likes you more? If yes, you will fast 2 years"


I also love the "Saxon Laws" decided by Charlemagne in 785:

"Whoever burnt a church, will be put to death"
"Whoever refused to feast during the Lent, will be put to death"
"Whoever, according to a pagan rite, burnt a dead, will be put to death"
"Any Saxon who has hidden and refused the Christian baptism, will be put to death"


Now I'm not saying that the Shariah is OK, I think it should be forgotten, just like what the bible says. You can find horrors in every old text, so I find it a bit stupid to try and apply them in 2010, as if society had not totally changed.
