I think this is a slippery slope to erasing my privacy. What type of music do I like? Well, statistically people who listen to music A are more likely to steal. What type of sexual positions do you and your wife like? Well, statistically couples who like sexual position A are more likely to not work very hard, etc.

Yes, check the credit score of EVERY potential employee. Your score reflects your character and integrity.

Were I to return to the U.S. and try to get a job, I would have no credit record as I have not had any credit transactions, no bills, no rent, no nothing in the U.S. for more than eight years.... So, should I be disqualified from applying for a job because I have no credit record in the U.S.

Furthermore, unless the formula has changed, every check on your credit damages your score. With the job market the way it is and many people applying for multiple jobs, if every potential employer checked the credit score, it would continue to drop until it would be impossible for him to get credit, apply for a job or perhaps even rent an apartment...

If I was the one deciding this topic in real life, I will say NO as the poll would affirm my decision. That said, this shouldn't be allowed until we can definitely STOP I.D. theft which seems to be running rampant and has successfully destroyed thousand of peoples credit,(hate to see these people trying to get jobs with this requirement). This requirement isn't full proof and does not determine ones ability to perform a job that one is applying for in most cases. The interview is still by far the best method for qualifying a candidate for a job and not credit checks.
