I tend to agree with you, however when a Presidents ratings are as low as Obama's are I guess he imagines any publicity is good publicity.
To my way of thinking the show The View is mostly fluff.
But even so, those who watch it whether in the studio or on their TV sets can often be swayed by seeing a President discussing affairs with those they (the auudience) consider to be their friends (the Panel comprising the View).
