While wind turbines are much more environmentally-friendly than many other sources of energy, I can understand why some homeowners would object. Ignoring the functionality of the wind turbine for a second, and just think of it as any other eyesore. Of course the people who live nearby are going to object, since it could lower their property values. Are they spoiled rich folks? Yeah, perhaps. But I can still understand their point of view.

Fortunately, there are many parts of the country where people are eager for more jobs and actually desire wind turbines. There is a lot of open land in Oklahoma and Texas where property values are relatively low anyway, and people would love to have the wind energy industry set up shop in their town.

Oh, the poor rich snobs with the sore eyes. They don't mind the chemical poisons sprayed on their beautiful green lawns, though, because out of sight out of mind. No wonder so many people are dying of cancer.

We need SOMETHING besides fossil fuels. It is shameful that people refuse green energy simply because it is not "pretty". The real argument is whether or not these wind turbines are efficient enough for widespread use.

Ah yes, the old Ted Kennedy "we need green energy, but not in my backyard" argument. There are other means of providing energy such as nuclear power plants. It isn't like wind energy is the only option. And if wind turbines are the difference between my dream home and my needing to move, I am going to protest the hell out of wind turbines.

If the difference you're talking about is neighbors doing what you want them to with their property, versus doing what they want to do, either buy the view or STFU.

So much for that "libertarian" lean of yours.

Yeah we need more nuclear plants then we can all glow in the dark thus saving light energy.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to upgrade or replace all the older nuclear plants in the US (and for that matter, the world), as I think quite a few safety and efficiency advancements have been made since they were originally built.
