Firstly, space is immensely massive..beyond comprehension really. I personally think it's crazy to not think there is other life out there.

Second, the problem is these people who actually think every word in the bible is true have a large sway in politics, I mean 3 of are past 4 presidents have been fundamentalist Christians.
 
I grew up Catholic. The overwhelming majority of our families are Catholic now, as well. I respect the religion and the sect a great deal, but I hardly consider myself much of a follower.

sure you can call it faith, I have faith that there are Aliens out there. I'm just simply saying it's not nuts to think Aliens are out there. It would take 78 billion lightyears to go from one end of space to the other. I think that surely we can't be the only ones.

none...i'm a christian who attends (currently) a lutheran church.
 
I'd venture to guest most people on here will be either Atheist or "Other" since most of us have a higher interest in logic and reason along with political debate then most.

My opinion is that Atheist's are those that have taken science at it's core and if something cannot be proven then it doesn't exist. "Other" are those that held/hold a religious belief but given logic and reason that belief is not stripped to the fundamentals that science is unable to explain (initial creation, possible existence of a soul, etc.).

I personally am "Other" for the reason that I believe all the major religions believe in the same God and the same principals at their core (a creator exists, you should do good in your life, you will be rewarded for doing good). After centuries some have been manipulated by man for political reasons but their core still remains. I believe their might very well be a creator but not in any form that we can envision.
 
I'll give you two guesses, and the second one doesn't count.
 
I was raised by fairly fundamentalist Christian parents.

At the moment, I'm in the "I don't know" section.

So, I voted "atheist/agnostic", as I think agnosticism is closest.
 
Lutheran. I became Methodist during my first marriage, but I have switched back. My Sunday school indoctrination favors Lutheran.

EDIT: I can't believe that Lutheran isn't listed while Baptist and others are. Martin Luther was the first to split from Catholicism.

This thread shows just how confusing the simple word atheist is. It should simply mean "without theism", nothing more , nothing less.

Theism in the broadest sense is the belief that at least one deity exists. Therefore, an atheist is not someone with a belief that there is no god. An atheist is someone who lacks a belief in a god or gods. A subtle but very important difference.
