Will Jesus Christ will return before your death?

Do you believe that Jesus Christ will return before your death?

Holy ****!! That is a definite yes.

No I am just critical of poles and social things in general. Heh, not trying to be coy. I am not an accountant.

When I read the question, none of the given multiple choice answers are appropriate for me.

Edit:I did not answer the question.

Not all questions are for you to answer. And that's okay.

It is imperative that the question being asked in a poll is all inclusive. Otherwise the pole is unrepresentative of the thing being quantified. In other words the question should have been directed towards a specific demography. The poll is not a universal question, therefore it should be subject to critical observation.

It was - people who believe He's coming back. Very simple.

Then specify in the question who is being asked.

Edit: I did not make a choice based on my observations. I did not vote.

Because you're too simple to figure it out?

I understand that good and well. I have good reading comprehension and am studied. I don't particularly care if you think it is ok to present a pole as though it was universal. (not being directed to a specific demographic) However based on the way the question reads.. "Do you believe that Jesus Christ will return before your death?" All who answer it yes or no are faithful to the deity in question. One could turn around and based on the number of active participants in the form make another statistical conclusion that a larger percent of form participants are religious as well. Maybe many of the participents in the pole have no faith in the idea if the said thing will return before or after their deaths.

In other words if you answer "no" and are not religious you have answered the wrong question.

*sigh*

And the word is spelled "poll".

*holds herself back*

Ironically what is simple is to understand my argument.

What is not difficult to understand is the level of arrogance required to beleive that all polls must include you.

I have to admit, there is an interesting correlation between most of the major world religions right now. They all believe that a messiah is coming to save us. Even the Hindus, who believe we are in the end stages of the Kaliuga, believe that Kali will soon be upon us; Buddhists think the Buddha Metreiya will come and save us in our darkest our; the Christians, Jesus; etc.

If all of these faith based belief systems stem from very ancient times, maybe they know something we don't. I'm not saying I believe Jesus will walk the earth, but... things are looking bleak around the world right now. It does feel like an end time to me, and based on my travels I think things will boil over soon.

I'm not so sure I buy into the idea of a messiah, but if it's true, then the question is not if one will come, but instead it is: when will be our "darkest hour"? Next year? 50 years? 100 years?

hrm... is it a public poll? For anyone to answer? Or is it supposed to be directed towards a specific demographic not mentioned in the poll questioning? If this is a public poll then I expect there is an appropriate selection for myself. Otherwise the poll taker makes an assumption whether intentionally or unintentionally that the person or persons being asked are fit for the question which can have derivative logical conclusions.. particularly if the enquiry is misleading to people unwary of the line of questioning.

You've been expressing your dismay that there wasn't a poll option you felt was suited to a non-believer for several pages. I think we have most emphatically gotten your point.

Well thank you. I feel appreciated suddenly. However it does not rectify why I have been subject to scrutiny for simple line of questioning. It is as if my ideas are held in disregard and discriminatory while the truth of the matter is opposite. I welcome your concern though and thank you again for acknowledging my opposition to the poll in question.

Very much appreciated.

Are you an accountant or are you always this anal retentive?

Let's talk about the topic and not the posters. Thank you

If I see a public poll that asks a question that has no answers I either: 1) skip it or 2) post a simple answer and move on.

It's possible. Christians have believed that Jesus would return in their lifetime from the very beginning. If he's coming back at all, one generation is eventually going to have to be right-- and there's no reason for it not to be ours.

And yet assuming you voted, you voted NO.
You are illogical.

Jesus Christ is a story - a myth.

Like Hercules and Superman, he was the son of Gods sent to earth to save us...

The Gospels contain great truths about the nature of man and morality. And reading and study them can be of great benefit to anyone who does so. We can learn how to lead better lives.

But the stories of Jesus are an composite of stories from mythologies pre-dating Christianity.

I agree with everything you just said, too bad we are in the minority.

It is not representative of the test group if some don't answer because they have no option. It is a bad poll if it is meant for all. It is a poll for the religious without changing the context of the question.

Or maybe making threats of eternal damnation or promises of eternal paradise is just emotional manipulation effective for recruiting new followers. An accidental or perhaps intentional early form of marketing.

Hmmm. My experience is those making threats and such promises are themselves weak of faith. Not using it as a tool to gain recruits, but to bolster their own failing faith.

I kinda of doubt this was intended to be a scientific study.
