Beck is the loudest, and becoming the most visable to the mainstream because he goes on the attack. However most conservatives I talk to feel that his message is not what we need because of the snotty rhetorical methods he uses. Rush is still the man as far as conservative and constitutional thinking goes.

Actually, the GOP partisans don't fall completely in line with Rush because he will attack them as well if necessary, he is more in line with actual conservatives rather than any particular party.

The problem I have with limbaugh is that he has never, ever, debated anyone with views other than his own. If he is so ****ing intelligent, then why has he never debated anyone who disagrees with him?

As far as the constitution goes Rush doesn't know **** as far as I am concerned. He has no experience in constitutional law, whatsoever.

He's just another hophead as far as I am concerned.

I challenge Rush Limbaugh to a debate. Watch! He will never accept my challenge.

Completely untrue, he has people who are polar opposites on all the time. Matter of fact he invited a guy who got kicked because of a phone problem to call back and insisted he be put right on because he wanted the debate on Friday of last week.

Neither do most of the people who have been abusing it for the last century. Matter of fact Rush knows more about it obviously than the current leadership in D.C.

You mean like Al Gore?

Bah it is rush slimeball.. no republican dare say anything about that scum bags flapping lips.

edit: spelling corrections.

Why are people so obsessed with this? I don't think we have any one Most influencial.

Two reasons.

1) The left has a collectivistic centralizing tendency so of course there should be one person to speak on behalf of all conservatives

2) A centralize voice for conservatives needs to be established so that the left can decide what insult to use. For instance, these days something like "why would you vote for someone in a party who listens to a pain killers addict/recoverying alcoholic" is needed because "racist" doesn't work as good anymore.

Well, if limbaugh would take a voluntary drug test and pass I would stop calling him a druggie.

I find it sad that a discussion about the most influential conservative voice revolves around entertainers.

No you wouldn't and that's not the point and it's also none of our business.

I'm not suggesting that opponents of Rush Limbaugh who wish to discredit him should stop referencing his drug addiction. I will suggest though that if opponents of Rush Limbaugh truly want to discredit him, they should apply reasoned opposition against things he says on his broadcasts.

What's the point of constantly making reference to Rush's drug addiction? What is that meant to accomplish? What's the strategy? What's the reasoning?

Wait...

You're using "druggie" as a negative term?

And you're saying until someone personally proves to you they're not on drugs when they previously have, then they're still using?

Ronald Reagan.

He's dead and he's still arguably the most influential. The majority of the radio hosts people reference continually allude back to Reagan, claim Reagan is the model for their principles and views, and use Reagan's words and views to validate their ideas. Every political candidate on the right is continually trying to be a "Reagan conservative" and referencing the man. Most conservatives long for the days of Reagan while youth are taught of him as the pinnacle of Conservatism often.

Even dead, his voice...through the words he's left over and the legacy that continues on...is by far the most influential amongst conservatives.

I'd say if we include the dead, Barry Goldwater should get mentioned as well.

My reasoning is this.

In my area we drug test the workers who work on sewers and collect garbage (Not meant to demean them, I think they do the best jobs of any government worker). In our society we test almost all of the blue collar workers and especially for the best paying jobs.

Limbaugh influences a lot of stupid people who actually believe his propaganda. Rush is the spokesman for the evil corporate world (there are plenty of people in the corporate world who are not evil) where profit trumps humanism and ethics.

It's plain discrimination not to test everybody in our society instead of just certain people. It's a miscarriage of justice to give some people immunities to drug testing. Test them all or none at all.

I can pass a drug test, can you?

Okay...i'm going a bit crazy here.....

Weren't you sitting in threads not that long ago talking about how often you smoke weed?

Am I somehow going insane and there's two LiberalAvengers?

I said other. I was going to claim it was my own voice in my head,...

But after reading your question again, I've decided it's Beck.

Beck lives in your head:mrgreen:

Yeah. I have not smoked any for about three months now. I can't afford it anymore.

So you're proudly proclaiming your ability to pass a drug test and thus why you're so much better than Rush Limbaugh and why its perfectly fine for you to make assumptions and call him a "druggie"....all because you simply can't afford to do an act that, by the way you phrased your comment, you'd be absolutely indulging in yourself still routinely?

I'd be for drug and alchohol testing of every single person in congress, Obama and all his advisers. They have to be on something that causes them to lose all common sense. They are the one's destroying this country, not Rush.
Are you for drug testing welfare recipiants and those collecting unemployment?

I love the "Rush is a druggie" pap. (sarcasm)

My Grandmother fell and broke her hip.

She was given some seriously powerful pain relivers for long enough that she became addicted.

She is still addicted to them today and will probably die that way.

Rush was initially prescribed his 'pain pills' for back pain,......

I feel sorry for Rush and all the problems his addiction has created for him. But I can no more ridicule or condemn him for his addiction than I can my own grandmother.

Rush was calling severe penalties for drug abusers while in the mean time sneaking around to get his own drugs. That is the problem.

That's classic denial.

My Grandmother (has dementia now) would do the same. Rail against drugs and booze,... even as she was begging for a pain pill.

If you haven't lived with it and dealt with it,...I doubt that I can make you understand.

There's a difference between mere addiction,... and the want for drugs for recreational use.

i never heard your grandmother on the radio calling for severe penalties but I have heard rush on the radio calling for severe penalties for something he was doing himself.
