I would suppose that his approval ratings will most likely stick around 44% -- it has become nothing short of a propaganda war between the two major American parties (Democrat and Republican), and, as I understand it, about half the country is Democrat, and half the country is Republican, give or take a few percentage points. And so, as each person either subscribes to the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, you must either love or hate Obama -- such is the nature of the ridiculous propaganda the two parties throw at eachother. Obama has become a proxy war, and to support your party, you must either support him or undermine him. There appears to be no middle ground.

:/

I figure it'll be a while if ever that Obama gets down into the 30's. Its going to take something major that completely angers his base completely for it to get down there I think. If health care failed to even pass I think it may've had a chance to get in the low 40's / high 30's. As it passed he split his base a bit, with some happy SOMETHING got done while the others mad not enough was done. I think if in 2 years we're still actively in Iraq that could cause it to slip. A few other things, likely national security related. But ultimately I think it'll be a while if at all that it hits the 30's because I think his base is too fully enamored with him still for them to be negative to the point needed for it to drop to those levels.

I think you are right on. I would venture a guess that there is about 30% hard core on either side. One of the reasons why 28% of the population still believe that GWB was a good President. However, GWB's numbers didn't hit that low until everyone other than the hardcore base abandoned him. It takes a while to cause the entire center to abandon you.....and the thing with Obama is that by proving himself the left-leaning moderate that he is, he is somewhat different, because his numbers are probably more from the hardcore left abandoning him, more than the center.

To approve or not to approve of “the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president” -- That is the question! Or at least that’s what nearly everyone thinks is the question being asked.

And virtually all the pollsters and pundits write as if they know what the question means to them and what it means to respondents. Or do they?

...

But what does the vague phrase “handling his job as president” actually mean? A fundamental [textbook] assumption in asking any survey question is that the question should mean the same thing to each and every respondent. It should also mean essentially the same thing a week, a month or a year from now that it does today. If not, then we are comparing apples with oranges, and any such comparisons are ipso facto, invalid, in a word, meaningless.

Congratulations to President Dunsel.

What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

I think Rasmussen is more reliable. They have it at 46%. Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

Darnit. I said 5-6 months.

FOX News has the President's approval at 43%. But since they are a bunch of lying, manipulative liberal haters, I'll go with Harris... they're more fair and balanced :ninja:

I thought it was funny how Zimmer used the Harris poll since it was one of the few that I found that had him under 40%.

Why funny?

Harris is an acceptable polling company, and it's not only one of the few... at the moment Harris is the only pollster to find him under 40%. Hence the end of the bet. 4-months and 1-day.

You don't see how it is funny that you used a different poll than the one you started with just because it gave you what you wanted? Truth is if this was a real bet, you would of have had to use the same poll.

Oh boy... ROTFLOL... is this the best you can up with. Throughout this thread references to other polls were used. I didn't care who made the call, so long as they were reputable.

It's OK. I remember what watching Obama get elected was like. Incredible. How the country could vote-in such a lite-weight and radical was difficult to stomach. Nice to see the electorate not only aware of the mistake, but energized to remove the mistake they fell for.

He has been vetted now. The people didn't like his interpretation of Hope & Change. Unity is a lark.
You have to be dead not to realize how hostile Obama is, and people had different visions of Hope and Change. Most of these people had American ideals in mind, instead they got a good taste of Marxism and decided they didn't like it, and want some of it surgically removed.

You also didn't care who made the call as long as it agreed with you. Fact is most polls have him in the mid to low 40's. You just wanted to find one that had in the 30s.

True!!! I wanted to see when a reputable poll would have Obi in the 30's!

Found one! Game over.

....the best president we EVER had.....

That's a pretty strong statement. I've spent quite a bit of time defending Bush against ridiculous attacks, but there's no chance I'd call him the best president EVER.

No you found an outlier. That isn't game over. It is an outlier.

I know I am not the OP nor do I make the rules. I am just calling you out on using an outlier to prove a point, when all the other polls have him in the 40s.

And you believe and trust these polls that ask a stupid question to stupid people???
Even if its an intelligent question to intelligent people..........they are probably sick/tired of so many polls....who determines what is stupid or intelligent ???
Decent American people will support our President, even if we get down to one.

LOL... this is nothing out of the ordinary, Journolists do it all the time, plus... the thrust of the thread was getting a poll when Obi is in the 30's from a credible pollster. That way there is an end to the poll. Phew... some folks just excel at anal retentivity.

I sense irritation, and some might be sick of polls, look forard to the ultimate poll on Tuesday, and many are looking forward to a rest for 6-months.

Hatred clouds ones judgement.
Easy to say, impossible to fix, completely.
What hatred?

Obama sold the public one set of goods, and gave them another. It's not like a one issue deal either.
People are pissed, and rightly so. You just knew Obama would sink into the 30's... it was just a matter of when.
20's is unlikely, but not impossible. He's not much different from Pelosi: tone deaf, an leftist... ideologue so... shall we start a new poll?

Republicans can paint him into a corner... I'd make sure his veto pen is busy.

For those unsatisfied with the Harris Poll, the LA Times brings you Zogby.
5 months and 13-days after this thread had started.

Lowest ever: Obama job approval sinks to 39%, as even Democrats' support melts away

But, Zogby notes, perhaps most ominous for the president is that he's now losing support among his own party people. His approval plopped nearly 10% in just one week, from 78% down to 72% in Zogby's latest read.

Obama, John Zogby writes, "is failing to please more than one-fourth of his own party’s voters. This is a perilous position for the President.

Glad to see you using Gallup, yesterday they had him at 47%, today he's at 46%, just for comparison to the low.

I don't approve of him either. Doesn't mean I approve of the Republicans (in fact, I approve of them less)
