nah, they're Maori's, both are about 10 foot tall by 8 foot wide, they'd kick my arse if i said that:mrgreen:

Tell them to lay off the whales.

I used to have a Maori co-worker (he was a police officer). one of the funniest things I remember about him was watching him sing Karaoke to Bon Jovi's "cowboy."

HI-LARIOUS.

It's not racist, but you have to admit it would easily come across as saying, "You're all the same to me."

Well they kinda are to me. You could introduce me to any random five and ten minutes later, I would be referring to them all as "That asian guy".

i have two mates from new zealand, they both have bad handwriting, and they're both from new zealand.

 oh ****, i'm racist:shock:

At least you show the self awareness to admit it friend. There's hope for you.

Incidentally, the two Filipino persons in question appear to be ethnically different from one another. The fellow I'm speaking of has a much more Polynesian appearance, with rounder eyes and browner skin. The other was a woman who essentially looks Japanese in every way, with light skin and very slanted style eyes. So, racially I believe they are quite different. I think the Philippines has some variety, if I'm not mistaken.

well, racially, the entire SE asian island region is a melting pot, the people go from looking Thai, to Australian Aboriginal-esque, depending on whether they're from north or south, plus you get Pacific Islander blood as well.

I guess it is different living over there...you can really see the difference. But to me, if it's 5 feet tall with black hair, almond eyes, and a yellow tinge to its skin, its just "That asian guy".

:rofl, thats fair enough, i'm much the same unless i try to pick out the features.

Well, basically, white gay men in their 20s are interchangeable as well. They're all impeccably groomed, have perfect six packs, and don't have nearly enough body hair.

I think your best approach would be to stop talking openly about race/ethnicity entirely and save all these conversations for the internet. You're going to get sued.

You are right about that...it seems they dont start expressing individuality in their appearances until their 30's roll around.

You really know who looks a lot alike? Blond white women. Especially in Los Angeles. it's like f'ing stepford out there.

Maybe he finds you generally insensitive about racial issues and a bit of a clod.

Why should we be required to be a bunch of oversensitive vagisil users?

''Why should we be required to be a bunch of oversensitive vagisil users?''

Because using deplomacy is wise, in all areas of our lives.

I get told "All you white boys look the same to me" all the time... but I dont cry about it.

This guy just needs a big dose of vagisil.

''Why should we be required to be a bunch of oversensitive vagisil users?''

Because using diplomacy is wise, in all areas of our lives.
So you are saying that the person who was being joked about should have responded more diplomatically?

Good point.
Apparently it is not acceptable to mention another person's ethnicity in the slightest, even with no harm intended. (Unless they are White)

But, its perfectly acceptable to over analyze a instance of perceived racism and then get violent about it.

People of different races shouldn't be treated as visitors from a foreign land. That's the kind of thing that creates racial divides.

It would likely have been wiser if he either ignored or reported privately to the Human Resources the racially charged comment. And, the person who made the racially charged comment, would have been wise to not make such a comment. Hopefully, this explains adequately, what I mean by diplomacy.

What race was he referring to, precisely? And where in his comment did he refer to said race?

So what you are trying to say is that we cant talk to our colleagues at work like understanding adults and have a bit of humor.

We have to run around walking on eggshells and be weary of anyone different from ourselfs.

Yes, that is going to really help real racism and self-segregation go away.

''People of different races shouldn't be treated as visitors from a foreign land. That's the kind of thing that creates racial divides. ''

People of certain races should not be harassed by members of the white races with needless jokes and comments. They have enough to deal with already, with the various types of discrimination and unfairness inflicted on them.
