I don't trust politicians. It is too easy for anyone - even myself - to be corrupted by power and greed and fame. This is why I will never be a politician. However, I trust the desire of all politicians to be loved and re-elected and remembered well, that I will support them (them as in individual him and him and her, not collectively) to make good on at least some of their campaign promises.

If you don't trust any politicians, why would you vote any of them into office in the first place?

Because you don't have to trust someone to believe that they will stand for most of the same things you do... essentially doing your bidding in political office.

I trust some politicians but distrust most.

It depends on what I'm being asked to trust them with/to do/whatever.

I wouldn't trust a politician with absolute power, and I don't trust politicians with their current power.

Less, perhaps.

Do you trust politicians? Or do you not?

Myself, I trust nobody. Too many people out their with personal agendas that could effect me and mine. Not that they'd delibertly lie, they may even believe what they're saying, but the outcome and negative effect is the same.

My dad said don't believe what you read and only half of what you see.

I don't trust any politicians, to a varying degree of distrust. Some at least try at the beginning. Some never do. The problem is, our political system is set up to corrupt anyone entering it, it isn't possible to stand up for your ideals and never waver in office, you need to be constantly wrangling for this ideal here or that fundamental there, it isn't long before you no longer represent the people who voted you in, you just want to keep getting re-elected.

One thing worse is politicians playing God, doing things for your own good when they don't know beans about it. "It's right because I say it's right!" doesn't cut it for me. Of course politician distrust is nothing new. In a 1994 Times Poll, their approval rating was 8 percent,

WASHINGTON - Can you trust Washington?

Nearly 80 percent of Americans say they can't and they have little faith that the massive federal bureaucracy can solve the nation's ills, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center that shows public confidence in the federal government at one of the lowest points in a half-century.
